USGI M1 Carbines - Which one do you own?

Just took a picture or two of the Howa

There are no GI stamped parts on this carbine (which is correct) - apparently these can be exported to the US since they aren't US surplus and weren't military surplus either, but for some reason ATF requires that the bayonet lug (which is unique to Howa) be removed - must be scared of drive by bayonetting's. Unique parts on Howa's are the rear sight, which is a windage adjustable 2 position peep, the Op rod which has vertical serrations and is an M2 type and the bayonet lug which fits into a step machined in the barrel. The stock is an unmarked M2 pot belly, which is again correct.

Ok seeing I started this thread a while back it is only proper that I post a picture of what I currently have.

The top one is a Saginaw. No post war rebuilt.

The middle one is a Quality Hardware.

The bottom one I picked up earlier this year. A little bit of a rarity as it is an Underwood build with an Inland reciever. The word 'Inland' was stroked out on the back of the receiver and a large 'U' stamped over top of it. In Craig Riesch's book 'U.S. M1 Carbines - Wartime Production', he refers to this one as a 'Seldom Seen Receiver Markings', page 105.

The IBM you bought at the Edmonton Gunshow? Was that from the same guy who had what I think was a beautiful looking, non reworked Inland, with the highwood stock...........for $1100?

Ya, i think so, far right when you first come in...didn't look at the inland to hard, was in a hurry to hit the road to gp but looked good at first glance and already had one...hope 1100 was good price, then i know what mines worth!!

Could use a refresher on reasonable values for Carbines these days, if anyone has the time to give a rough breakdown. Specifically looking at some Austrian service (ZW) ones with a range of manufacturers, that I need to decide on shortly.

M1 Carbines

Here are a couple of my M1s. The picture with three guns has a 19" model on the bottom. I am looking for an M2 model and a GI stock. I have a repro folder stock and it was a close copy of my original folder I sold a couple of years ago.

So the count is now four for me. Managed to pick up a nice looking Inland recently. Haven't had a chance to fire it yet but did a quick field strip of it and it was very clean and look well looked after.:dancingbanana:
