using a CZ 858 for hunting?

I LIKE my beaver puke stock. I LIKE the grey metal....tough stuff. I love the light weight and I LOVE my niet arms forestock and aimpoint scope. FAST, accurate what else do you need for a woods rifle. Honestly, when I had my browning with that beautiful wood stock I spent more time trying not to scratch it than hunting.

What do you guys figure would be a max distant shot that you would take on a Deer witha CZ 858 ? Similar to a Lever, 150-200yards max?
I hunt with an off the shelf 858 w/ open sights, limit my shots to about 100m. If I have any doubt of a quick and clean kill, I move on and leave that one for the Truck Jockeys who are all too common in this part of AB.

I am surprised that more guys don't use it for Deer season, for pushing the bush or just carrying, while walking around because its so light and maneuverable, if you pop in a 5 round mag.

Where you finding the 5 rounders?
I find the 30 shot mags a pita!
If I could actually use the whole mag it would be different!

Anybody wanting hunting ammo in the Calgary area can run by Shooters Edge.
They had a whole shelf of soft point ammo, had none of the cheap surplus stuff.
At a $1 a shell I might as well stick with my 7mm for hunting as my reloads cost less.

Wood is still good for hammer handles, (as long as the "tool" is "sharp" on one end of it:p) but not the kind of "wood" you'll find on a '58...;)

The gunsmith at Epps was pretty amused by all the guys who want "real" wood for their '58s but NEED to have a synthetic stock on their chinese M-14s.(well, as Hungry tells us, we all know what could happen...)

What could happen?cou:
