USP Compact - first impressions?

I took mine out shooting on Sunday. I cant say enough good things about this pistol. I put approx 400 rounds down range without any problems. I find it easier to shoot than my full size tactical simply because the full size has such a high center of gravity. This pistol sits lower in the hand, more like a 1911 compared to the full size. The pistol grip is also smaller, a big advantage over the full size brother if you have average to smaller sized hands. The down size of that is the mags are not interchangable.
I had bought this pistol with the intent of selling it on here if I didnt absolutely fall in love with it.....I'm keeping it. In fact you may see my full size tactical come up for sale.
lol

Do you ever shoot at the RA Center ? I would love to see this pistol in action ;)

does it have the usual USP weird recoil? Dont get me wrong I really like my regular USP, but its got some odd snappy recoil like the whole series. Is the .45 compact just even more of it?

So, who was the lucky CGN'er who got Ponts' like new Compact Tac for such a rock bottom price?

Man, it was such a good deal I was tempted to buy it myself, even though I already own one!

Hey if anyone wants one I'm selling mine. send me a pm

I took mine to the range for the first time the other day. I am extremely pleased with this gun. I did not find the recoil to be bad at all, but then I am not recoil shy (in fact, I rather like a gun to kick a little). Accuracy was as good as anything I got with my Mark 23. The slightly smaller, contoured grip is much more comfortable than the blocky grip on the standard USP. I think the more rounded edges of the grip allow it fill the palm a little better. In any case, I have large hands, and I thought the grip was outstanding. I find the trigger a little gritty (compared to my Custom Sport) and I also though the decocking lever was a little stiff. Overall, this is a very cool gun, and I think I'll actually keep it for a little while.

My best accuracy in the USP series is still with the USP Expert.

i bought a used mark 23 today, there was a P8 for 850... a guy grabbed it b4 i could.... then i was told the mark 23 wont be availible for much longer so i decided to bite the bullet and take it home. i cant wait! my first HK!

Cool! Where did you buy it?

Well...
Although I desparately wanted to love it ..the Compact I mean...I just didn't
shoot it as well as my Expert (now also gone due to fragility of mags and sights)and nowhere close to my personal favourite, my Mark23.
I found the Compact to be too snappy...and I can't say that I liked it, or shot it any better, than my Ruger 345.
Feeling good in the hand and appealing to the eye ( sort of like my twice owned and traded Walther P99) doesn't guarantee a place in my heart or my locker!;)

My view on H&K firearms is that they are just GREAT!
The MP-5 is the only one I have shot, but was just wondering , how do these firearms hold up in the long haul.? Do folks find that they go the distance without parts breaking?.

In terms of reliability I think they are second to none. For example, during its testing phase, the Mark 23 demonstrated over 6000 mean rounds between stoppages.
