USSR Tokarev Pistol

I've got a CZ-52. Same round, but the pistol has a much stronger action. It's fun, packs a bigger kick than a 9mm.

er, no, the tokerov is substantially stronger then the CZ-52. The 52 is more ergonomic and lighter, but the chamber area is much thinner then that on the tok, making it weaker.

Anybody on this forum have a Russian Tokarev pistol, your opinions and input would be welcome, i have read that the 7.62 mm rd that this pistol uses is a potent cartridge. looking forward to hearing from Tokarev shooters. :?:

The round will penetrate most threat IIIA vests, but isn't considered armor piercing by our authorities, happily gang bangers all over the country haven't figured this out yet. I found shooting the tok fun, but not a paticularly comfortable pistol. The grip angle is just a bit wierd. That being said, I'll grab one sooner or later. I'd like a russian one but will probably end up with a chinese. The ammo is quite snappy, I find 9mm easier to shoot fast, but its probably more in my head then hand, just more flash and bang...:D

I find the grip angle of the Tokarev to be comfortable. LIke anything else it takes getting used to. Some people always feel a need to compare a new pistol to another. It's like the comparison of apples to oranges. Accept the Tokarev for what it is and enjoy the blast 'cuz it's a blast.
If anyone knows how to lighten the trigger do let me know. For our free brothers to the south who have the ability to CCW, carrying the Tok with a round in the chamber and the hammer at half #### may be safe as the trigger is so stiff it is like a safety. Wouldn't want to try and pull the slide to chamber a round in a hurry as the hammer is so stiff it locks the slide almost.

I think it is a great pistol for carry and for plinking. The surplus ammunition is excellent. I have not had any problems with either the pistol (Norinco) or the Czech ammunition (bxn53). A good little pistol.
