Yes, I did watch the video... twice in fact.

I was referring to him racking the round. He was short stroking it. Clearly doesn't know how to operate an 870. If he racked it with intent it wouldn't have the problem he created.

Have you ever owned an 870 ? If you had you'd know this from experience.
 
Yup,I had 870s...but I always rack any pump action positively to the end,so I never had that problem and my Wingmasters were good ( 70's guns,I think Remington is not as good as it once was anymore). That might also be the reason why I never had a problem with the UTS while YouTube is stuffed with FTFs.

Fair enough.

Racking the 870 requires it to be done "forcefully". Doing it "limp wristed" often causes short stroking and this has been known for a long time.... with old and new 870's.

I'm not so sure this issue/requirement is all that different between the old ones and the new ones. I think it's more of an issue with pump actions in general, or at least with the 870.

I have Tac-Ord done older 870P's. No issues with them at all..... unless I short stroke it ..... user error.

I'd consider that somewhat of a weakness in the 870 design considering that some other designs are more forgiving in that regard. With the Ithaca 37 for instance, no matter how slowly you bring it to the rear, it'll eject.

870s need to be very smooth as to not force the shooter to slow down and put a deliberate effort into racking the thing.

The old ones were good to go, the recent ones however are usually quite rough out of the box, and many of them are so rough that they'll never smooth out with normal use, and need an action job.

I'll agree with that, bit of a design flaw with the 870 I guess.
 
I just received my UTS 15 today, it is definitely different, operating it is quite easy, yes the factory pistol grip has got to go..... Lots of plastic here, not very heavy though, comsmedicly it seemed. fine, has a cheep feel to it for sure, the plastic cover on the sides of the shotgun is pretty cheesy, like I,'ve handled a super soker that did not fell as cheesy .....but all bashing aside, it's a very cool concept, I can see that there going for weight saving here, going to take this abomination out to the range tomorrow and see how it runs.....

Cycled some dummy rounds through it, so it feeds and ejects fine, passed all functions tests, ...so looking forward to putting it through its paces's on the range tomorrow.....keep u all posted

We went out on Father's Day and put 200 plus through the Utas. It's fun as hell. As long as you stroke it like you mean it there's no issues. Total round count is pushing 1000! Gonna clean it soon.
 
Well my range report is good, cycled perfect. No real problems to report, I hated the factory grip, got a new one on order, all and all a good run.....it's definitely a neat fire arm, my one complaint about it is as Ur running the firearm, u can't just top up the mag tubes..... it's such a different take then a regular shotgun, I really want to love this ugly thing but I can only like it, as I can see the shortcomings of not being able to top up Ur mag tubes. But u have 15 rnds to get the job done, that's 3 reloads on Ur average shotgun , before u have to reload. So u can,t have it all for...$659 plus tax......but at this heavily discounted price u can have one niffty,
UTS ( ugly tactical shotgun ).....to play with.

Just my two cents...

Well, another update, I have ran it 2 more times at the range, changed out the original grip for a magpul Moe K2+ grip. What a difference with the new straightforward grip. A must modification, still no problems to report, I short stroked it once, my fault. Ran great, just stroke like u mean it it just chews up all my ammo. I love how short this thing is. It's shorter than my buddy's 14" pump, has 3 times the ammo capacity, and is just as light. It's a cool shotgun....my advice, don,t think about it just buy it....have fun!!
 
Ordered one and received it today

No tool in the box for gun disassembly.

$285 light with no batteries and it doesn't fit unless you stretch out the wires as a contortionist or remove the pump return spring.

Was expecting plug and play not stress and yank LOL

There's no tool needed for field stripping to this point:

IIRC (and I might not be) the spring has to be removed for installation of the light.

Found a video on how to use them both, but it's a very "backyard" install.

Remove the spring assembly. Install the light system. Hang the light out of the end about four inches, this allows you to be able to change the batteries without pulling everything apart. Lay the spring assembly along the wire with about three inches of wire give or take towards the switch. There is a tapered area along the bottom of the spring mechanism where you can stretch out the wire enough to fit it between the assembly and the body of the gun. I taped mine in a few spots to make the wire stay in that groove and I bolted the assembly back in.

The end result is three to four inch of coils on either end of the assembly with the coils squished into the gap in front and behind the spring.

Pop the light into its proper place and reassemble.

Light works and I shouldn't have to take it all apart again. It maintained the water proof integrity of the wiring as well.

Just don't show anyone the duct tape LOL.

Be advised UTAS is in the process of making a new light/laser assembly for the Gen 4's no ETA yet though. I'm ordering my UTAS sans light and laser until these are released.

Also hugely disappointed that you Utas USA will not ship to Canada and no Canadian dealerships can get in the tube block kits for hunting! Yes I want to limit my 14 rounds to 2 lol going to have to find a way to back yard it I suppose.
 
Just a comment, but why buy a shotgun with 15 round capacity, just to block them to go into the Bush??? All the hunters will be horrified, the MNR guy will be all over u, they live to check capacity, way to much attention to be brought to yourself, but if u want to be the center of attention, go for it.....
 
I have the Gen 4. When I first got it, I looked it over and everything was great, no crappy QC on mine. I had a couple FTE's and when I contacted the dealer about it, they told me and I quote, "rack it aggressively for the first 200 rounds or so". I did this and never had another FTE (also never had an FTF). I put a cheap Sightron holosight on mine and it's held zero consistently and never fell off. Like many others, I was hesitant after all of the Gen 1-3 bashings but things seemed to have improved for the Gen 4 so I took a chance at one. I'm really glad that I did, it's an amazing gun.

I'd be interested though to see any possible future generations of this gun and what changes they might include.
 
So these are in sale this weekend at wolverine for 499$ who's gonna get one? Stull having mixed feelings don't know if I should pull the trigger on one geez what to do
