So I finally finished off my NON RESTRICTED Valmet M71 7.62x39, conversion.
I had the barrel chopped to 18.5", crowned and re threaded, front sight and muzzle break placed back on (thx Dlask), found a sweet Tula AK47 bakelite mag and had some great help from a sponsor here on the board (who shall remain nameless, as they dont want to be named) get me an original Valmet M71 wood stock.
All I can say is this literally is the closest AK rifle I will be able to have, shoot and take it in the bush if I so desire. God bless the non restricted status of this rifle ;-)
Balance is superb and it truly is a natural pointing rifle instead of the LMG it was.
I just finished tru oiling the hell out of the stock but am reconsidering it now as I may want to stain the stock all black to match the handguard, what do you guys think keep it they way it is or stain it deep black??? It would look similar to what I did to my other M78 in the bottom pics.
Anyways here is some ####......
