Need a value check on a shotgun. Winchester Model 12 of approximate production date 1955-60. 12 gauge, fixed full choke. No rust inside or out, shows handling wear in the blueing and wood but nothing egregious.

the price has come way down the last 10 years for model 12 ,what were 500 to 600$ guns now you have a hard time getting 350$ .guys can buy a new pump with chokes for less then 400$ heck bass pro had rem 87o for 289$ plus a 20$ rebate ,I got one and wish I would have got ten of them at that price ,,I still love the model 12s but it takes a real special one to get any real money out of them ,sub gauges or trap and skeet models still bring good money as well as the 3 inch guns ,a lot of guys I know are cutting them down and drilling them for scopes as thy make very good slug guns ..Dutch

Dutch is right, back in the early 90's model 12 prices in Canada were much higher. Personally I think the steel shot requirement for waterfowl really killed value for the 12 gauge guns as they are not choked for it. Model 12's in 20 and 16 gauge still fetch more as they are great for upland shooting with the smaller frame and lighter weight. I would guess $350 tops for a model 12 field gun made post war in very good condition. Quality wise they are one of the best deals out there in shotguns in my opinion.
