Hi guys,
first off, I'm working on pics - I didn't know I was going to be looking at a gun so didn't bring my camera. I'll try to get back to take pics.

Anyways, what's the going market rate for swiss 1882 revolvers these days? I've never even seen one before so I'm out of my depth. Gun is chambered for 7.5 swiss revolver, production date puts it 1893, minor pin pricking in the bluing in places, VG+ internal condition and lockup, and the whole gun is built like a swiss clock.... that also fires bullets.

Top price I've seen is around $1700 for a really pristine, like new looking one. Dunno if it ever sold at that, was at a gun show. Seen in the mid $700's for a OK looking one.(ie no obvious rust, wear on the edges, decent bore). IIRC, it was mentioned around here that they sold in the mid $300's when there were a bunch brought in. Could be wrong.

The date of manufacture can be got off a couple different sites on the web. Mostly, they are the same ones you will find, searching out info on the ammo or other bits of history about them. I just Googled whatever bit of info I was looking for and went from there.
Apparently the dates online pretty much all hinge on the accuracy of the book published by a Swiss Colonel, that covered the history.

There is an E-book that is out in the wild too, written by a Belgian fella that has several different ones available. I ran across a download link in one of the discussions some time back. Search for 1882 ebook, you should find it out there.

No cut-out, but nice hard rubber grips.

No cut out?

What exactly did you think that square hole on the butt above the lanyard ring was, exactly?

You don't have the bicycle troops version, but you do have a shoulder stock cut out.
The bike troopie version had a larger fixed loop on the butt.
