What do they need carbines for at an Italianfest for in the first place?
:bangHead:
The old guys getting out of hand playing bocce ball?
Did they start singing the lyrics to Mussolini Fiori again and scare our fake eyebrow lovin' PM?

I hope your trolling here but you cant be that naive can you? I guess what happened in Toronto, Boston, New York, Barcelona, is forgotten far too easily.

The world isnt the same as it was 30 years ago.

It would be more acceptable if the officers were dressed in bright coloured uniforms and their rifles had colourful furniture instead of just basic black. Maybe a nice blue would be more acceptable?

:)

Since Justin is boss, ethnically sensitive headdress should be issued:

To be really open and honest the greatest and most likely threat from the Italian Festival is from the flatulence resulting from the consumption off all the great and amazing spicy food that everyone is vigorously tossing down.

I was wondering how the heck VFD allowed such an event to occur, as any open spark was likely to send the entire event over to North Korea, then I noticed how many of them just happened to be in the area and standing in the front of each line. This must be a byproduct of lifelong conditioning... see food, get food.

I once asked a senior FF from Calgary how he knew when it was on vacation, his repose... When I pay for my own food, then I know I am off duty! :)

I've seen the trucks and cops with AR's at most big events in Vancouver the past few years. Ever since the truck attacks started.

I know its B.S. the cops have "patrol carbines" but in our hands they are "assault rifles"

But I like seeing the AR's at events. Gives a false sense of security I geuss. I'd rather have a few cops with AR's then a whole line of cops with 9mm handguns.

These people complain and get triggered or offended, but if #### ever hit the fan. And the cops didn't have the trucks and AR's in place. A lot more lives would be lost. And the same people complaining in that article would be saying "why was nothing more done !"

^^ exactly - nothing wrong with police having ALL the tools needed to deal with ANY problem that might arise..

There has to be a line. Police in camo, with FA weapons, or with tracked vehicles would some of those lines. Police are responsible for peace and order, but aren't subject to unlimited liability. Hence why some countries have military police tasked to things like terrorism, which is criminal but requires a different skillset.

Sorry man but your missing the point. Most police agencies dont run automatic rifle or have equipment above the needs to protect themselves or the public. Modern society essentially has dictated the need for police to upgrade equipment.

In these times carrying a carbine is good, most cops aren’t proficient enough with a pistol. Especially in an attach using a vehicle in a crowded area, a patrol carbine is probable many times more effective and safer in an urban environment.

If they are not proficient with all the tools of the trade there is a problem
