I’ve seen this picture posted by the guy who was shooting. If I remember correctly he was shooting Hammer bullets. When he showed the pictures to the bullet company they said that I was caused by residual oil from the manufacturing process of making those mono bullets.

Seen on the hunting shows,vapour trail as bullet crosses a valley in the morning frost hitting a bull elk.
I've seen it from some of me own rifles on chilly mornings in still air. It always looks cool. Shooting .22's out at 200 yds with the sun behind yer back is a giggle as ye can see the glint from the back of the projectile as it arcs downrange. Cheap thrills.![]()
