That’s ###y. Watching vapor trails is one of my favorite aspects of filming long distance shooting. There’s just something kind of magical about being able to “see” the bullet as it approaches the target.

If that's a .270 got to be Track's .270, he has one on steroids.

LOL!!! Yes, my 270 Win. has some wiz-bang velocity with the 130gr. NAB's. I haven't been out to the range this year, has been closed for renovation since November 2020. I have new loads for my 240 Weatherby Mag. in which I wish to achieve 3,600 fps plus, sans pressure signs, 90gr. NAB.:sniper:

I’ve seen this picture posted by the guy who was shooting. If I remember correctly he was shooting Hammer bullets. When he showed the pictures to the bullet company they said that I was caused by residual oil from the manufacturing process of making those mono bullets.

Found it:

See post #14 for the manufacturer's explanation.

That’s cool. There is probably a market for tracer type hunting bullets, adding oil in the tips

I bet you believe the airline industry when they try to explain chem trails too. This is just the bullet manufacturer trying to control our minds and make us buy more bullets!

I have looked over at other people shooting and momentarily seen a bullet leaving the muzzle. Maybe twice or three times ever, all 7.62x51.

The corkscrew is illustrative because I have usually only seen the vortex in a wide low left to top centre to middle right track.

I often see the bullet trace through the scope on a calm day when shooting at long range with SMK’s and Berger Hybrids.

There’s a black 12” gong at 100 yards at my range that is perfect for watching the bullet flight through the scope with my 22lr’s. CCI sv or slower rounds are the easiest to see.

I've seen it from some of me own rifles on chilly mornings in still air. It always looks cool. Shooting .22's out at 200 yds with the sun behind yer back is a giggle as ye can see the glint from the back of the projectile as it arcs downrange. Cheap thrills. ;)

:)Used to see the same thing at the range when we were long range centerfire handgun shooting at steel rams at 200 yds with the sun setting at our backs.

Subsonic 22lr beyond 100 meters in the winter is one of the cooler shooting experiences IMO. Like watching little cannons balls
