Hey Whelan,
I use Varget in the Lee Perfect Powder measure. (also W760, IMR4166 Re15, and soon to try IMR4064) At first the repeatability was s$%t with Varget. But over time it got better from some tips and suggestions shared here that I'm thankful for because I was going to throw the damn thing away.
- thrower needs to be broken in. A couple of pounds of stick powders recommended. Mine settled out after 4 lbs of stick powders. Before that I was ready to throw the thing out.
- anti-static ~ dryer fabric softner sheets rubbed on the inside of the hopper and lid. Perhaps a little voodoo but I noticed the kernels sticking to the hopper and thought it plausible that static would have an effect. At the time I was willing to try anything so it's just part of the routine. One fellow even taped a used softner sheet to the outside of the hopper.
- some guys have a tapping method at some point during the cycle of throwing a charge. Either tapping the hopper, or tapping the throwing arm to what ever AC/DC beat to have the powder settle in. I've incorporated that but have no objective evidence to positively say that this makes a difference.
FWIW
Regards
Ron
