I have a unique problem in order to hunt Coyotes in Nova Scotia out of big game seaon you are restricted to a shot gun shot of no larger than .24 (ooo-#4),or a rimfire rifle of .22 cal.
I know all that stats and read all the charts...I am looking for aome practical help!
oh yes I am a complete newbie to coyote hunting!
HELP!!!

Check out the Henry or New England single shot rifles with bull barrels. Price is right. With a decent scope and the correct reload you can shoot sub m.o.a groups out to 300 meters. Good little rifles.
Under $600. is a tight budget. I suggest that you consider a used rifle.
This one is in the EE now: WTS Rem 700 SPS Tactical .223
Remington Model Seven Predator at LeBarons, in .223, for $674 after club card discount.
i think there is also a $40-100 rebate on most Remingtons right now.
my idea of a varmint gun 6-7 years ago vastly differed from my idea of a varmint gun now. im sick of lugging around ~14lb rifles like my 700P.
lightweight, compact, great action, fluted medium contour 22" barrel.

Personally I've liked the Remington 700
and especially the Savage series that are very accurate out of the box ( for me )
My wife uses a NEF stainless ( break action ) in 223
I've scoped it up, sling and all for under 500 $

In an earlier thred I asked which caliber would be right for me for a varmint gun, Because of price, variety, and the fact that I dont reload (maybe in the future) I have chosen to go with .223, now the question is which rifle to go with.
Once again price is a big matter, I would like to be able to shoot gophers at 150+ yards, coyotes at 200+ but dont plan to be needing to go over 300yrs.
I am trying to keep the cost of the rifle under 600. is this possible/reasonable?
What brands/models do you recommend and why?
