So here's the deal, I live in Saskatchewan and in most southern areas, beavers are all open season. Kill as many as you can in what ever way you want (still following laws) and most places pay a bounty! I know other places have similar laws. So what's your "go to" beaver gun!?

Personally, I shoot my 22 mag or 22 hornet. 100 yards or less and they're dead every time. Light and menouverable and not too loud. Also have a 17 fireball if I ever set up on a slew for a long sit...

So what's yours?!

.22 Hornet with 50 SP's was always my go to... but I sold off all of my Hornet rifles. Now I would go with reduced loads in one of my .223's with the same 50 SP.
 
I live in BC, so a trappers licence is required, for whatever reason as opposed to the rest of the country. (I guess it's like out MSRP premiums.) Thanks for the pictures though, those are some good sized beavers! Congrats.
 
iirc they told me you're not allowed shooting beavers here at all. Even if they're still alive in the trap you're supposed to drown em.

Load the Hornady 158 XTP hollow point designed for .357 mag speed in my 35 Whelen and drive it to 2800 fps, on critters that size it's spectacuratly deadly, unless your gonna eat it.
 
My choice is the 222 Rem for distance shots and 12 ga. #4 buck at close range. My best night was shooting up to 5.

I had up to 3 dens on my property and beavers were starting to be a problem with flooding on my field so I had to take care of business...
 
22mag or 22 hornet. I been known to use 375 when they start hiding in the trees. They usually make a run to next area when that starts up
 
I too own a 222 and love it for coyotes, never even taken it out for beavers.... where does one find #4 buck? I do have 25 rounds of it, but it came with an old guy's hoard of shells....
 
I use my Browning stainless stalker in 204 with a reduced load of H4895 and a 30gr Berger. Kills them stone dead with only a 20 cal entrance hole but turns the inside of the head to mush. Berger has discontinued the 30gr bullet but I have 500+ and that is at least a 15 yr supply at the numbers I have done in the past.
 
In AB, we used to get paid $20 per tail by the County. Call me an over doer, but I always used my 30-06, worked very well to hone my skilld for deer season!
 
Shot hunerets of the buggers with nothing more than a .22 LR ( HP's if we had just been to the fur buyer and were flush with cash from our "$25 each" sales). Never shot over 30 yrds and side shots in the eye and head-on shot were between the eyes...anywhere else and you were docked on hide quality.
