I bought mine from S&J and I'm very happy with them.
My experience with the Velcro ones has been trash. They either fall off the gun entirely under recoil, or don’t retain the shells adequately.
From experience, I’d highly recommend avoiding them altogether.
I think this is where it will pay to buy professional quality items. I did and have never had that problem. The hard shell holders are fine if you want one on the gun at all times but OTOH the Velcro models will allow you to slap on a fresh one from a pouch on your belt in really exciting times. I also had an 870 Express where tightening the bolts for a hard shell holder a little too much would cause the gun to jam. Had.
What would you consider to be “professional quality” in regards to Velcro side saddles?
The one in question for me is from S&J hardware.
I actually picked up a Mesa Tac for my 590 to replace the Velcro last fall on clearance, as I had one many years ago on a Super Nova which did its job amazingly however I’ve found that the retention rods that I received don’t work for ##### all either.
Luckily, I never have an honest use for a shotgun so it’s not going to effect my daily in any measurable way.
