VERY Disapointed with a few hunters.

Report it. Even if an investigation isnt done, the statistics are still valuable to the district bio.
X2. If there is an increase in reports from a specific area the MNR will adjust their enforcement activities to go after potential poachers and slob hunters who don't make the effort to recover their game.

We won't have moose hunting unless we have more Camp A's than Camp B's.

There is a reason the folks who fess up get minimal fines - it seems only the poachers amongst us can't figure that out.

You are correct. Most people who turn themselves in for making a MISTAKE get minimal fines, no revoked hunting, no "losing" their vehicle...just a fine.

A buddy of mine shot at what he though was a calf moose, turned out to be a yearling...my buddy called the MNR, told them what happened. Small fine, no confiscation of equipment, and he got to keep the moose.

Another buddy of mine shot what he thought was a spike buck, but it's antlers were below minimum lenght. Not even a fine after speeking with the MNR.

Please don't insult Wolves by comparing them to poachers.

Wolves don't get wasted and shoot game indiscriminately with semi autos, and leave them there to rut. If they did, I would do more than reporting them! and I know where their dens are on my hunt property.

I know for fact that wolves only hunt as much as they need and if they get lucky with a large game (which is not very often), not a scrap of skin goes to waste.

I have much more respect for Wolves, Coyotes, Bears....than people some guys are defending here.

Lies! Everyone knows you 'll go to jail for 17 years for crimes like those! My brothers best friends uncles cousins roommates exwifes grandfathers co-wokers son had it happen to him!

Yes, one sure has to admire the above mentioned predators and the way they obtain their food.
Bears will eat the moose calves as they are being born, or shortly after, as coyotes do to baby deer and ranchers cattle, if they get the chance.
Ravens also like to pick the eyes out of calves or fawns, as they are born.
Wolves prefer their meat fresh, so they start to eat on the rear end of a moose, keeping the animal alive for quite some time, while they eat it.

Dam few hunter get wasted & shoot game indiscriminately with semi-autos........get real that's not something that happens everyday!
Oh ya..only with semi's too eh..double :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I know for an absolute fact wolves hunt to kill, they will kill more than they need any time an occasion to do so presents itself, & unless they're starving they most certainly do not " not a scrap of skin goes to waste." I have witnesses many times deer left with only a portion eaten, one nice buck only had 10lbs eaten from it's ass

I have much more respect from people that actually know what their talking about ;)

So you would consider it the "right" thing to do in reporting a fellow CNutz member if you discovered he had an unregistered gun :(

apples and oranges? thats totally different as its a bogus law that serves no purpose. laws regarding wildlife are intended to protect animals and to ensure theres huntable populations in the future. wildlife laws help keep healthy populations where the LGR is intended to take things away from us.

i think a post above got it right. its not hard to figure out who the poachers are here...

Hey I love this. I can;t get a F'n tag in the draw so all I have to do is admit I made a mistake and pay a small fine and keep my moose. What a deal can't wait until next year.Laugh2

Who said anything about keeping the moose?

The first thing the MNR does is confiscate the animal because it was illegally harvested. And then they write the ticket.

Some of the treads on this I just read that stated that.
Just because someone does a lot of shooting we assume it was to kill. We own a remote camp and with no tag in our camp if you were a CO responding to gun shots you will go nuts near our camp. We have found dead moose left on the side of the hwy and it was not because of a mistake it was left there for a reason to be found. The ones I am referring to came from the two CO's that come into camp after finding the moose left to rot.

Who's defending poachers? I see some that said they wouldn't report a dead animal. Others that said they may or may not report a mistake. Actually, if someone doers make a mistake, an honest mistake, I'd much rather they took the animal home anyway so " not a scrap of skin goes to waste." and learn from it. Notice I said an honest mistake. Turning yourself in for a mistake will not bring that animal back to life.

You know, every time you post I just want to reply with S the FU! But I'm not like that.

So here's your chance. Whe are the poachers?

If you can't manage to positively identify your target you shouldn't be hunting period. I can accept that mistakes happen but admitting those mistakes and moving on is what makes a man......
