Not sure that OSHA would approve anymore of deck crews running to grab the wing of an open prop plane while it's still bouncing forward... Man, those kids had some guts and confidence in their own reflexes.

I sailed on the Bluenose II for a day which was quite an experience, but sailing one of the square riggers must have been something else, especially in a storm.
In my early years as a marine engineer I have been through some typhoons, I don't think one of the 3 masters would survive those.

Agreed, my granddaughter went on a crew / ride on the Picton Castle from Lunenburg to Boston and the following summer she was asked to crew as an instructor so she did 2 more trips on it. It was the following summer that Bob Gainey’s daughter was swept overboard in rough seas and never found.

Her g g grandfather crewed on the original Bluenose and they have his ###tant that was used on the Bluenose.
