Video of the day

Archival footage - Katanga

In the second clip, (showing a bit of the aftermath of the second mutiny in 1967) the Katangese who were not granted safe passage through Rwanda became trophies being paraded for the cameras. Mobutu had many of these soldiers executed. About 100 of Schramme's European mercs were granted safe passage through Rwanda after being demobbed.

The T -28's, the pilots, and ground crew for them. Initially the Belgian Royal Family and the CIA supported the Katangan cause.

During the 1967 mutiny, it is said the T28's were from France, but the pilots were CIA employees.

Occupied Paris, 1942.In a secluded office at Fort de Romainville prison, German military intelligence chief Captain Stephan von Gröning hears a knock at the door. In walks a rakish man who greets him with a charming smile from below a pencil moustache, and a “Guten Tag” in a strange accent. He’s here to interview for a job like no other. The man doesn’t know it yet, but von Gröning is looking for a saboteur who can parachute into England and destroy the de Havilland factory where the infamous wooden Mosquito bomber is produced. The buttoned-up German officer eyes the man up and down. He’s a long way from his idea of a soldier. But as von Gröning starts listening to the candidate’s credentials, his eyes widen in perverse fascination. It’s clear the man’s prison uniform has been well earned: Nightclub thief. Safecracker. Confidence trickster. Explosives junkie. Fugitive. Best of all, he’s British…---Join Dark Skies as we explore the world of aviation with cinematic short documentaries featuring the biggest and fastest airplanes ever built, top-secret military projects, and classified missions with hidden untold true stories. The true identity and story of Gelormini - one of the secrets of WWII Italian communists? There is nothing on him online.

The tally of fascist officials summarily executed in the lawless days at the close of WWII in Italy by some estimates comes to 12,000. Not all of them are known especially in English speaking countries in 2025.
