Vintage weaver vs modern scopes

Crossfire is bottom end of the Vortex China lineup. That about says it all. You could also just wait for an older Bushnell Elite to pop up. Very good glass that usually sells in the $175 - $250 range. They'll stomp a Crossfire on the quality side.

Contrary to our exchange yesterday I will 100% agree with you on this one.

Back in the late 60's and early 70 comparing a Weaver to the Bushnell... it was the same as looking through a coke bottle and looking through a scope that was brighter than a Leupold. Really all Weaver had going for them was a steel tube for what that is worth.

This is one of six Weaver K4s of various eras [all of them El Paso, though] on one of my Swiss rifles. I have a collection of around ten Weavers, and never paid more than US$25 for any of 'em. Bought them in junk stores up and down Highway 101 in Oregon whilst on vacation.

the best weaver scopes were the micro track series as for the version before that the quality was questionable simply because the technology was lacking
