I know this might not be a mil. slurp. anymore, being currently re-introduced/produced, but I think it belongs in this forum for all of those who love the original VIS pistol.

The new VIS wz.35 is in production. You might have heard rumours about it, but the current copy of the magazine "Strzał" has a load of information and pictures of the production line, samples from the production line and pictures of the old (original 1925) and new Fabryka Broni (arms factory in Radom).

Here's the gist:
-they are producing them, but not in high numbers right now (this year) - there will be only a select number on guns offered to gauge interest
-cost might be kept down in the future with cast/MIM parts
- the original VIS was hand made, fitted and polished (this might be very labour intensive and expensive to mass produce)
- the gun is made 100% in Fabryka Broni w Radomiu to original specs. The only thing different will be the barrel and lug - it will no longer be machined from one piece of metal
-production & distribution has not been finalized (may be pre-sales)
-the production at the factory right now is focused on the MSBS-5.56 modular rifle

Hell, we need that article translated into English!! I'd love to read how they're manufacturing that pistol.

I translated the meat and potatoes of the article. For now, the gun is CNC machined and hand polished. To keep future costs down, it might not be.
It is still very early in production, and as far I know, these are the first pictures. A lot is yet to be decided.

Here's another photo of what I believe to be a 2015 manufacture from FB (not Facebook).

Update: Although not a high resolution photo, you can see that the gun looks different in terms of finish to the pre-war deep blue. It appears to have a current-type of finish/blue.
Also, notice the serial number on the side of the slide above the frame serial number - original VIS have the slide serial number stamped inside of the slide.

Canadian government seems hell bent on getting rid of our "worn-out" and "obsolete" Hi-Powers... I say lets issue THESE little darlings to our troops... hehehe...:stirthepot2:

Wouldn't that be something.. I'm not sure where the government will buy its new sidearms, but I don't think the all metal VIS will be able to compete with the likes of a $500 Glock. Even if some of the internal parts are cast (instead of machined, hand-filed and fitted as they were with the original guns).

it'll be interesting to see where Fabryka Broni goes with this. They have obviously re-tooled machines and put a considerable amount I effort into replicating the gun. I've also spoken to someone who has seen a beefed-up 45ACP version.

It would seem all their efforts are concentrated on the military supply, mostly the MSBS 5.56.

Also, these guns wil be a little different than the pre-war Polish Eagle VIS wz.35, most notably the finish. Just as we aren't likely to see the return of the beautifully finished, deep blue of the wheel guns (due to restrictions on chemicals & time and effort), these guns look to have a modern coating.
The other thing would be the sights. The original pre-war and wartime VIS (I hate to say it) has terrible sights. There is talk of modernizing the sights.

Wait and see! It seems the factory is also testing the waters in terms of dealer interest, maybe seeing what the pre-order would be like? It would be nice to hear from a dealer who has spoken to FB about this.

Very interested. Unless the price is really prohibitive, I would be in for one. Just can't bring myself to shoot my original, pre-war Polish Vis.

I agree, I think these look great and are probably the best answer for those who don't want to wear out their nice collectibles. I hope they don't end up costing more than an original, I will be curious to see the MSRP. Hopefully these will be a nice guns for those looking to go shoot!

From these photos and the shoulder stock cut, it appears they will be reproducing the pre-occupation pistols (probably for obvious reasons).

If the quality is there I have no doubt they will cost more than an original.

Best thing is that since it's a re-release of an existing firearm and from the same manufacturer, it should not need a new lab inspection and FRT. You're just importian a bunch more VIS RADOMs.
