Hi comrades,

I'm thinking about buying VOMZ 3.5x20c and mounting it on magwedge sks rail. As I understand whole reticle moves during adjustments (like regular PU scope).

If anyone used it on SKS with magwedge/wartak rail (or even SVT or Mosin) - please share your thoughts about this scope.

Thanks!

I have the similar 3.5x20 vomz scope on my sks, it spent some time on an svt as well. Nice scope, clear glass. I like it better on my sks, it lacks the magnification for a mosin or svt but that's just personal preference. It handles the recoil of the x54r cartridge fine. I like the reticle, although I find the reticle post pretty thick when looking out at farther distances. Non of my cons come into play on the sks, it's perfect on a magwedge rail. Eye relief and height over the reciever are all good, low rings to high all will work.

Is your reticle close to the middle after zeroing scope on magwedge rail?

I prefer the other model as pictured above. Not the PU 3.5x C.
It's just a personal preference that's all, the PU 3.5x as a bigger rear objective, I wish they could make away with the #4 German reticle since it obscures most of the sight picture. Just a post would suffice.

This is mine. I have the other model scope on order.

It's around the middle/just above the middle zeroed at 100yrds iirc.

Mine too, even with an authentic PU from 1942 I had a year ago. I was told the Burris Z Rings with inserts could work if you either require elevation and directional adjustments.

I am unsure how they go with side mounts but will let you know soon since my next project will have another PU set-up with the Promag D&T side mount.

I have been looking at buying one of these as well. I have a Choate receiver mount and would like a scope that I can still use stripper clips with. Right now I have a 3x6x9 which doesn't allow the use of stripper clip or the use of the iron sight because I have a shell deflector attached to it.

It should fit the bill for you, it will work with strippers if you have a choate mount. I was using stripers with mine on my one svt. I find it almost too easy to shoot my 8" steel targets at 80 & 100yrds with my sks, the slot on the magwedge rail still allows the use of the irons which is nice. Here's an 60yrd 5 shot group from sighting it in the first time. The lower two holes are from a different group, was shooting Romanian surplus ammo.

In another video RC mentioned that there is vertical movement during horizontal reticle adjustment. Have anyone else noticed it?

2 things here.. Some M14/M1a's have uneven receivers, second the arms18 mount too. Friend couldn't get his to align at all so he just gave up. With an SKS Magwedge rail system it pretty legit it'll be straight thus requiring very little adjustments. Would be hell for the PU scope for the M14 set up not the SKS.

Still consider a backup plan, like chims and adjustable rings.

My 2 cents.

Someone mentioned the Burris Z rings for windage issues, bearing in mind the video hasn't been updated since 2014. My issues with my new Promag side mount project will likely be more windage than elevation I'm assuming. I would consider "chiming" the mount too. For those with Magwedge rail this issue shouldn't happen however the best mount I believe is the original PU sniper mount but just don't like all the #### sticking out like the over size screw etc..

I'd check the Weaver Windage adjustable Grand slam rings instead. Brownells has a similar ring too.

PU mount has 26.5mm rings. I've seen some 1" rings for PU base, but those rings are too far apart from each other.

Brownells and accumount sell the 1" to 1.04" inserts if you decide to go that route. Forgot to mention that.

Actually the Chinese repro PU mounts are 1"

I use these type of scopes, they are small and tough. Resonably priced, like any scope if the mounts are out expect to have issues. I am mounting one on an SKS with repo PU mounts, should be done soon. I have one on a No4 PH sporter, I only mounted it to assess it's accuracy, been there ever since. Ended up being a good set up and a real headturner on the line. You have to sight them in on the mount no easy for most. A lot of the Russian optics are hands down better than Bushnell!!
Be well
