Voodu V-22 rimfires

What are you paying for?

As I said, it's a deluxe trainer rig/PRS rifle. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to denigrate the Vudoo, it's a very well made rifle for it's intended purpose. Consider that a Savage MKII can be competitive in PRS, the Vudoo provides all the accuracy you "need" to stand on the podium in these events. They are very much a test of the shooter, how you manage your DOPE and call the wind. Benchrest is a different story, the rifle and ammo are the name of the game there. A Vudoo barrelled action will never make any waves in the National BR circuit. BR is a game of "C" hairs, and well, the Vudoo's hairs are just a little too thick ;)

It is Rem 700 based, and entirely interchangeable with stocks and triggers for the centerfire version. I.E... Your trainer for the Big Boy. You are paying for a finely crafted rifle that replicates your centerfire rig so you can train at a lower cost without burning out your barrel.

I love how such an obviously highly skilled shooter can comment on a gun that as far as I know, has never owned, or shot on a regular basis. But alas can comment about a gun being podium worthy in PRS. Did you forget about the trunk full of spare parts that would require this feat? Talk about design flaws,Jesus man youve been indulging in ur fine brews me thinks. I have not noticed any savage guns on the podiums in the open class ever, but maybe ur shooting in a different circuit. Do you actually compete in ORPS or CRPS? I find it humerous that you put accuracy limitations on a firearm youve never owned. Of all the people on this forum you should know the sensitivity of RIMFIRE guns. You took a CZ made on antiquated machinery and had the first name in the 1/4 inch club which is super impressive. What could you do with a Vudoo? Well I dont think we will ever know but. I havent had my shots so Im hoping not to get bit by anyone RABID> Cheers Pal just my opinion and I know BR guns are Single shot for a raeson which gives me a stiff action

It appears as if I've discovered your personal sensitivity. I'm not entirely sure how to respond, allow me to sip a brew while I ponder ;). Do I need to have direct personal experience with something to comment on it? Reviews by others are readily available, as well as construction specifications. Do we even have a Vudoo on the 1/2" challenge list here, to say nothing of 1/4"...? What records has the Vudoo set? How has it placed in benchrest leaderboards? Does anyone serious about rimfire accuracy even use a Vudoo? Further, how do similar rifles compare? How do spring around pin (SAP) ignition actions fare in BR competition? How are the cut rifled barrels doing? Research that, then maybe you'll realize my commentary towards the Vudoo is not without base. You remind me of Mike Bush getting all pissy with Bill Calfee....

If I'm not mistaken, Jerry of Mystic Precision uses/has used a Savage MKII to good effect in competition. Your comment about Savage guns and open class is odd... given that their price point is that of factory class... but why don't we collaborate and build a MKII with a custom barrel? That would actually belong in open class, and heck, might even take down the Vudoo shooters, if you're good enough ;) Like I said about CZs, what can a Vudoo do that a hot rod Savage can't?

Yeah, I looked at Vudoo. I have mainly been interested in pure accuracy, so my research indicated that the Vudoo has nothing to offer me in that department. Quite frankly anything less than a full custom build does not peak my interest anymore. Not even an Anschütz BR model inspires me. I won't buy another rimfire anymore. The more I know, the less I know, but I do know that if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. You won't see me with a new rifle unless I get tooled up with a lathe and build it myself.

I'd like to offer a few observations from an Australian perspective. Years ago, I had a little custom built around an E receiver Mark II. It turned out to be the most accurate 22 I had in the safe for several years. There are fellows here who know me and can vouch for the fact that I've been buying and building "quality" rim fires for decades - Always keep about a dozen on the go at any given time.

My next project was going to be based on the new Vudoo V22S - Would probably run about A$6k and a 12 month wait time by the time I got it in my hands.

The Bergara B14R's have recently arrived here. Fellows I know and trust on RFC have been playing with these for months now and I am assured that the build quality is there. My current mindset is to buy one of these for roughly A$1,800.00. If I'm satisfied with the function and build quality, a premium blank will set me back A$700.00. A TT Diamond or similiar runs about A$400.00. I have access to a very competent rim fire smith who does all my builds. He will charge around A$600.00 to fit and tune everything. So all up approx. cost A$3,500.00. An Anschutz 1710 sells for well over that figure here.

I've built customs around Savage, Cooper, Weihrauch, Anschutz, Lithgow etc. The Anschutz 1710DHB is my favourite 22 and I've owned several but all of these builds have produced accuracy standards to equal or exceed my 1710's. If I decide to run with the B14R project, I would expect it to perform and shoot somewhat on a par with the Vudoo/Rim X offerings.

I’m not all pissy with you. I’m just trying to agitate you enough to buy the lathe and then I’ll beg you to build me a fine rifle. How are we going to get a great trigger, what barrel are you suggesting and what length. Who would you use to barrel the action?
