Vortex Optics...what do you guys think?

Those are goods scopes price to sell, my idea is if you gonna spend 700.00 for a Vortex, just spend 900.00 and get a Sightron, those are sleepers of top notch quality, in my book that is... JP.

I think the Vortex is actually a nicer scope than the Sightron.
I have a 6.5-20 x 44 Vortex Viper, and love it. And their warranty is top notch. I was an idiot and lost a turret cap, emailed to buy a new one and they sent me a new one for free, had it same week.

I have a SPARC and although it is a nice little sight, the controls are a little poorly thought out and the hard to find battery is a bad idea on Vortex's part. 2032 would have been the way to go.

I bought my Vortex at a small shop . The guy there told me that if I had any problems with it internally or with functions it would have to be sent back for repair . He said if I had such problems , that I would be better off to smash it on a tree or shoot it , because then he could just replace it on the spot . It is an unconditional warranty . I know that doesn't help you now , but something to keep in mind .

I like the sound of that game plan...definitely something to keep in mind for future reference.

I am a big proponent of Vortex optics. Great product for the money.

I tend not to like their red dot's, but that is personal preference rather than anything to do with the product.

I would really reconsider doing that. Taken directly from their website;
"The VIP warranty does not cover loss, theft or deliberate damage to the product."

Yeahhh, I know the odd guy says to just smash it on a tree and get a replacement, but in the end it just hurts the manufacturer because they don't know where the true problem is, and won't know how to fix it as a result.

Honesty is the best policy.

Just stating what the salesman told me . Also taken directly from their website .
It's about taking care of you after the sale. The VIP stands for Very Important Promise to you (our customers) that we will do the following:

Repair or replace your Vortex product for any reason at NO CHARGE to you. It doesn't matter how it happened, whose fault it was, or where you purchased it.
Not looking to start trouble . I took this from the Vortex Canada website .

I have 2 Viper HS scopes and a Crossfire II on my 17M2 rimfire. Great scopes if you ask me. I recently looked at a Burris FF II E1 and was impressed. Bought the second Viper HS anyway. :)

Friend has Crossfire 3-9x40, when compared (at dusk) to a Bushnell Trophy XLT 4-12x40, Bushnell was brighter and wider field of view, Crossfire has a blue tint to the image.
Compared a Diamondback to a Redfield Revenge (both 3-9x40) Redfield was brighter.

All scopes had nice clear image, was just brighter with the Bushnell and Redfield.

Just got a Vortex Viper Hs 4-16x44 a couple weeks ago. Looked through one in the store, seemed to be pretty good glass. This one is kind of like looking through the bottom of a Coke bottle, should have looked through this one in the store. Called Vortex Canada today he says that doesnt sound right probably should send it in but talk to Tech guy in US first. I call US tech guy and tell him I can hardly see 22 cal holes on white paper, resolution is terrible, should I send it in? He says that sounds about right, and also says that about 95 percent of returns there is nothing wrong with them and they just get shipped back to customer. Guess I will send it anyway.

That bushnell has a retail price of more that 50% higher than the crossfire. That's fairly significant for a comparison.

Redfield doesn't make a 3-9x40.... ???

I've had a 3x9 diamondback for several years and find it good for the price. A buddy had a 3x9 viper that was bad out of the box, every shot moved 2" to the right, got a replacment in a week and is happy 2 years later with it.

Loki...my PST is a 4-16 x 50, SFP MRAD. The reticle turns slightly clockwise and counter-clockwise when adjusting the magnification dial in the same direction.

Called them up and spoke to their warranty dept. This was after two weeks of them receiving it...was told it would be another two weeks before it was returned to Vortex Canada from the USA.

I'm aware that posting doesn't speed up warranty...that's not my intention here. I'm just curious about anyone else's experiences...

I have a 4-16pst sfp in mrad. I set it up in new rings the other day after about 100 rds of 30-06. I found the crosshair doing the same thing, rotating when mag ring was turned. Only did it slightly but never did it before. Off it went to Warranty.

At least you noticed it after 100 rounds. Mine was evident after only 10 rounds of .308!!!

I have a viper pst 6-24X50, the scope had held up to just about 1500 rounds of .308 I'm currently doing load testing with hornady 208 a-max. I've pushed my brass to the point of seeing slight pressure signs and the scope has held up. My current load that i'm using is 178 a-max with 45 grains of reloader 15 which is above recommended load data. This current load has not done anything to my scope. The glass quality is good for the price. I like this optic for the fact that it has a good price point. My friend also has a .308 and has a viper hs and has shot the identical rounds from his rifle and has had no problems at all. Logistically for me being in Winnipeg, I can't purchase look through a sigthron before purchasing it and I also wanted a FFP hence the reason why I purchased this scope.

No one in this thread has commented on the strikefire. Opinions of it on a .22 plinking gun (ruger sr22)

How would it work on a shotgun...?
