Opinions ! Only OF this question ? How much better quality scope is a Vortex Viper over Vortex Diamond Back ? Only if you know please respond ! Thxs RJ
What models? I have a Strike Eagle 5-25 (which I bought as it has far better glass than the DBT) and a couple Viper PST 5-25 gen2s which are another step above, no issues, they work great for me. I just picked up a Venom for another .22 as it is pretty much the only competitor in that price range for the features.
Some people also may not realize that the way it comes from the factory is NOT setup for you, and you need to adjust the ocular lens first then parallax for the distance you are shooting...
Some will just say 'I only buy Leupold' but they don't make a scope under $2K that has the features of the Venom... The last 2 scopes that I sent in for warranty were a Bushnell and a an Athlon, both treated me fairly and within a few weeks of them having it.
I know all about how to "set up a scope" and my experience is that a Leupold VX Freedom is superior to a Vortex Viper.![]()
What shooting disciplines do people shoot a 'VX freedom' in?

Hey JimOpinions ! Only OF this question ? How much better quality scope is a Vortex Viper over Vortex Diamond Back ? Only if you know please respond ! Thxs RJ
There is that repeatedly bashing of Vortex scopes. Mysteriously only on gunnutz. I'd rather trust the many US sites and experiences there. Does Leupold pay you guys or is everybody into no feature hunting scopes now?
Not my fault that I tried Vortex scopes and they couldn`t cut it so I don`t use them, don`t drive a dodge either. Back to Jim`s question, the Viper is better than the Diamond Back , but I still wouldn`t own one. What`s with this "feature" thing? If the scope is no good, it`s no good doesn`t matter how many "features " it has. You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig. By the way I own several various brands of which Leupolds are the least expensive, I simply stated that I believe that a Leupold is better that a Vortex. Those that feel they have to defend them, go ahead. If you were to bash a Zeiss or Nightforce or whatever, I would simply reply ,"so don`t buy them anymore" and not feel compelled to defend them.
Over the years I`ve owned a lot of different brands of scopes and with no biased involved I can honestly say that Vortex were the worst. I gave them a fair chance and they just never performed.
The Diamond Back was the worst by far. What attracted me to Vortex in the first place was the "features" and the price. After I tried them I couldn`t get rid of them fast enough. I suspect that the Vortex fan boys have never used a better scope so think that their Vortex is as good as it gets.
What models did you own and what shooting disciplines do you shoot in?
