Vtac?

Buy a BFG Vickers Combat Application Sling (VCAS) instead of a Viking Tactical (VTAC).

The single piece adjuster will not fail. The nylon webbing won't cut up your neck like other slings on the market. There is no "tail" hanging off the sling.

It's solution washed, IR compliant, available in black, coyote or green and works for left or right handed shooters.

It's made in Pooler Georgia, not in China.

+1 on the vcas.very good sling.padded is an option too.goes from tucked hands free position to ready to shoot in a blink.

Nice, if you're going to try and slam a product to promote something that you sell then at least get it right. All Viking Tactics products are made in the USA.

The 5.11 VTAC sling that you used to sell is a licensed copy, not an actual VTAC product. Yes, it's made in China, as is most of the stuff 5.11 makes.

MilArm is the Canadian distributor for VTAC products or you can purchase from Brownell's. Stay away from the 5.11 version, I think it's actually more expensive ($53 at DS Tactical) than the US made VTAC ($41 at MilArm) and is only available in black. The US made VTAC sling is available in Black, Coyote, Foliage Green, Blaze Orange, OD Green, Multi Cam and Real Tree Camo.

You may also want to check out Boonie Packer, very reasonably priced US made slings. They have models that operate in a similar fashion as the VTAC or the VCAS, cost around $20 + options, and ship for free. Unfortunately their slings only come in black.

ETA: Vtac slings are also made of nylon.

ETA: Are dealers even allowed to promote their wares in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with products they sell? OP is clearly asking about VTAC, not VCAS.

If I was gloing to slam it I really would have instead of pointing out differences.

Actually a number of VTAC products are made in Canada.

If you want the US made (Barry Compliant) VTAC sling you have to request it. So where are the others made?

Yup

OP is clearly asking about VTAC, not VCAS.

Lot's of people get the two confused since the initials are close.

I'm sure that you have a lot more info available to you because you're in the industry, and I won't try and dispute it. All I know is that if I go to the Viking Tactics website and click on VTAC sling I get the following:

Viking Tactics Original Sling
CODE: VTAC-MK1
NSN 1005015344359
GSA# GS 07F 9236S
PRICE: $34.95
COLORS: Black, Coyote,
Foliage Green, Blaze Orange,
OD Green, Multi Cam

Now maybe this is marketing, but they list both an NSN and GSA number. Would these not have to be Berry amendment compliant to be sold to US agencies? I honestly don't know so I'm throwing it out there to an industry expert.

Both Midway and Officerstore list the VTAC sling as Berry compliant, I imagine they'd get in a lot of hot water for misleading agencies that must purchase Berry compliant gear. The prices are the same as regular VTAC slings so I'm not convinced they are special order.

I did find this on the Viking Tactics website:
"American Made: Viking Tactics, Inc. provides American Made products at every opportunity. Contact Viking Tactics, Inc. to purchase Berry Amendment approved slings. "

I don't take that as necessarily meaning they must be special ordered, perhaps some of the slings aren't compliant, perhaps Real Tree camo fabric is imported for example, I don't know. I've sent out an e-mail to them to see if they can clear it up.

You say you were pointing out differences, and they are different, but you try and say that they're made in China, which they are not. I'm not a fan of people making misleading statements about others products to make their own look better. I like both the VCAS and the VTAC but sometimes prefer one over the other depending on what I'm doing. Is the tail annoying? Subjective I'm sure, can't say that I'm a fan but I've never had it get caught or impeed my ability to use my rifle. I do appreciate the fact that I can cinch it down tight to the body for instances when I have to climb over obstacles or rappel.

I find it interesting that some VTAC products could be made in Canada but I've not found any references to this.

ETA: Who went full retard?

OP FWIW... I have both VTAC and VCAS slings and I ditched the VTAC very quickly in-favour of an MS2 sling, which then was ditched in-favour of a VCAS.

I found that the VTAC sling had too much extra webbing with the adjuster slide, as it uses webbing to tighten the sling, and a separate lanyard to loosen it. The adjuster webbing is meant to be secured, when not in use, via a small velcro wrap, that is stitched to the webbing, and wraps around the sling. The adjuster is also made of metal with a spring inside it... nothing necessarily wrong with it, but it's something that could brake.

Versus the VCAS, which is simpler in construction, yet functions the exact same. There is only a single piece of webbing for the adjuster to lengthen or tighten the sling. Also the nylon used feels more rugged and tougher and the adjuster is made of 1 piece of either metal or plastic (your choice).

It IS interesting to note, that both VCAS and VTAC were designed by former Delta operators with an extensive background. So the design concept has a wealth of experience behind it. It's just the implementation that is slightly different.

I received this response from VTAC:

Thanks for your email. All the slings you can buy from our website are berry compliant. It could be that they have our slings as special orders, but all the ones we sell are berry compliant.

Let us know if you have more questions.

Have a nice day!

So there it is straight from the horses mouth, no more need to spread disinformation about this product.

I run a VCAS on all my rifles! The padded is mf favorite the vtac didn't work for me

Just looked on OST website and found two different VCAS slings. One is just a VCAS and the other is a padded VCAS. Which one is better?

I'm looking for one for my XCR.

Depends on your preference really.... I run the unpadded version on both my ARs and they're fine by me... Maybe if you have a heavy rifle, then the padded could be better?
