And can someone tell me what makes a sling, you know a piece of nylon with buckles worth $50-82 bucks?
Developed with industry friend, firearms expert, and former 1st SFOD- Delta operational member Larry Vickers, the Vickers Combat Applications Sling has been adapted by the US Marine Corp, RCMP, Dutch Military and a number of other units and agencies after extensive testing.
The TEX 90 bonded nylon thread used in the slings have never failed. In seven years of selling BFG slings and over 20,000 VCAS slings sold, we have only had two come back for warranty.
The two slings that can back for warranty had the Fastex buckles broken - one was run over by a LAV, the other got crushed in a door, both in Afghanistan.
Blue Force Gear sling are solution washed 1.25" nylon webbing. This not only gives the slings their IR compliance but also makes them feel like cotton. This feature also prevents burns and cuts on you're neck.
Another great feature about the nylon used is that it doesn't roll and get stuck in triglides or adjusters.
The two adjusters used on the slings, one Acetol made by ITW and the other CNC'd aluminum, are patent pending and developed specifically for this application, not a piece of hardware designed for another purpose and made to adapt.
The VCAS slings made for the machine guns also have a nomex front on them to prevent the sling from melting on hot barrels.
The closed cell foam used in the padded slings is a much higher quality than used on the regular market. It will not asorb water, nor will it degrade and become crusty over time.
Blue Force Gear seeks out and uses more advanced materials all the time to add to the benifit and effectiveness of the products. This can be seen by looking at the newly introduced Helium Whisper.
These slings were purpose built for special forces, made in Pooler, Georgia by an awesome group of people who I've known for over 7yrs.
The VCAS sling isn't just about a name or marketing, it really is about making the best product possible.
As for the "tails" on a VTAC or other sling. Cut the f**kers off if they both you that much, or simply get over it.
The tail on other slings is for adjustment. If you cut it off, there would be no more adjustment, the main purpose of the slings.
I will admit, the padded VCAS looks promising but the price is a big turn off.
Send me your name and shipping address. I will send you one with an invoice. Once you use the sling for awhile you can decide if it's worth the money to you.
I will bet you that sling, that you will think it's worth it.
If I win, you pay the invoice and keep the sling. If I lose, you get the sling for free.
