VZ-58 For A Fighting Rifle

how does the folding stock handle? it seems a bit floppy.. or maybe that was just the one i used? how do you find it?

mine dont wobble ... most new folder requires some filing for a perfect fit so it wouldnt wobble. i think the one you tried was over done .

simply solution is to place a sticky wedge between the folder lug and the attaching plate.

but that factory folder is NOT friendly to the cheek bone :(

worst when using a red dot or a scope , you need a cheek rest like this . home made .

the paint could withstand high temp . i shorten mag a couple of times and the placed the mag on red hot element and the paint never melted but it did turn a shade of OD.

Just out of curiosity; why would you parkerize this rifle? It's supposed to be painted with that Czech Blue/Gray paint, and the paint itself is far more durable than parkerization. I would think that removing the paint would be a serious downgrade for the Vz (I consider the paint one of the better attributes of the rifle itself), but if you guys know something that I don't, then please clue me in. The paint used on the VZ is so hard and durable, I was wondering if I could get some in Black to apply to some of my other rifles that were currently parkerized.

I wouldn't I duracoat all mine duracoat is the most durable firearm finish I have seen to date but some prefer the park look so I say to each his own.

I've been talking to people who's opinions I highly regard. Apparently lithium batteries will solve the Eotech 552's heat related failure problems. That's what I'll be getting, along with a Fab Defense polymer rail. The latter I'm trying to get from Wolverine Supplies. Does anyone know how I'd get the former? Unfortunately Dave's Surplus is completely out of stock. :( I really like that store. Every time I go in I need to get a patch or two.

I guess that's why the paint on my rifle is chipping in places? It isn't all that durable in my opinion. It's also an ugly gray. IMO, it would look way better in a deep, parkerized black.

Parkerizing actually chemically etches the steel. Paint just covers it. Parkerizing is far more durable than the paint. It also absorbs oil into its crystalline structure and makes the gun pretty much rust proof.

Why would you need a cheek rest for? I thought that you were supposed to be able to shoot from the hip???

LoL!
But all else aside. What material is that?

I still have the solid stock on my 858 so when i shoot it the rise isint bad enough to hit my chin except in the prone and thats only sometimes... the red dot is fairly high though so that would explain it. pics to follow
