I got a chance to test two DLASK muzzle brakes on my rifle; their A6 and their AKM style brakes.

I benched the rifle, pointed it safely down range, and fired five rounds through each brake. To accentuate muzzle flip, I didn't snug the rifle into my shoulder. I just held onto the pistol grip. I think these tests show clearly how well both of these brakes work, even if they weren't scientific. Click on the photo to play each video.

No muzzle brake.


DLASK slant cut AKM style brake: This one works quite well and doesn't increase the length of the rifle much.


DLASK A6 Brake: Worked very, very well. Better than the slant cut.

I gotta say the A6 worked great and reduce muzzle flip the most, but I was very impressed with the Dlask AKM style brake. It worked very well considering how small it is.
 
What is the rifle in the background? Another 858? Nice comparison. I didn't notice much difference with the brakes/comps... The A6 sure seemed to push out the sides a bit more:D.
 
never liked the akm style. i had one and sold it shortly after. i find it directs the recoil into your face. looks cool tho. i bet if it was slightly modified it would work better.

great videos. i bet the last brake is loud! i have the same type on my ar15... that thing rattles teeth!

It's just a pet peeve of mine; compensators mislabeled as brakes, flash suppressors mislabeled as brakes. There's no way for a slant comp to reduce recoil. There's nothing for the gas to push on.

Your second comment as quoted above is surprising. I'd expect a big 6-gilled brake would have a noticeable reduction in felt recoil over the slant comp.

Felt recoil is a very subjective thing. I'm not that sensitive to recoil, so felt differences probably mean less to me. That's why I focused on the test that I did.
 
Clobbersauras I will post back on this thread when my chop mod is done with the Dlask 858 flaming pig on the end of it. Got it on my non-restricted but I think on the shorty build it will spit the flames out nice and far ;)
 
I found the slant style pushed my barrel below the line of sight when fireing standing. Did you try the miitary style break?
 
We have a new Brake in testing and in production. All reports are it's a big winner. I've shot the Dlask A6 myself and has been my preferred brake (the NEA Heavy a close second). We wanted to make sure that our design was both innovative, provided qualities no other available brakes provided and was an improvement in it's performance. If it's not better, I'm not making it. It's pretty slick if I do say so myself.

We also have a .556 version out for testing at the moment and none of the testers wants to return them...
 
from my experience the a6 is slightly better than the NEA heavy brake. I have yet to try anything that works as well as the smith enterprises navy brake on the m14 though.

You get both recoil reduction and a reduction in muzzle flip with that one. It must be quite loud to the shooter though?
