VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

I like the handguard. The Wolverine unit is plain, and you state the rails are brittle. This one looks good if the price is good. Otherwise your metal unit is preferred. The pistol grip would be outstanding. I like the idea of 6 position and folding. In short, there is enough there for everyone. Good find.

I have used some of palinak's stocks, those which are for sale, but also some of the newer ones, which didn't go on the market yet.
Most of them have a longer lenght of pull than the standard one.

I don't know which is the longest.
From what I've experienced, the under-folder is very long, since the adaptor places the trunion and the whole stock much more at the rear than it was designed for. LOP is about 16" or so.
The CAR stock with stock-adaptor if extended to the max might be very long.
The non-folder skeletonized one seems to be pretty long too, since it was very confortable to shoot from the bench.

Also, Palinak has the tendency to use that removable recoil pad, which adds some lenght of pull if needed (he doesn't need recoil-reducing since he is a fat guy and has built-in pads).

:)

can any one give out a list of the changes btw the VZ-58, CZ-858, VZ-58L

i know the major differences are barrel lenght and cromed or non-cromed barrels. but i have a VZ-58L and a CZ-858, they both "look alike" but when you look closer their have some differences.

vz-58L is one bit longer then the CZ-858,
Vz-58L has some changes in the insides.
etc.

could some one from Marstar give post a list of the changes given to those three models.

could you tell me which model (VZ58L and CZ858) is better made (quality, finishing) ?

well, the VZ-58 as improvements that the CZ-858 doesnt have.

the CZ-858 has less markigns on it then the VZ-58L which has CZH-2003 and a couple more.

the finish is pretty much the same.

WANTS IT. Can we have our own name on it?

would be nice .....but Peter Novohradsky is the guy who builds these 58 clones just like Hermex CZH2003s. hense the name FSN-01

I've handled and took one apart. His exterior finish and "semi-auto" internals are a lot cleaner then the CZHs.

The last pic is a 858 Tactical short.

The source that I was working with regarding the drums was giving me a unrealistic price so unless something changes its a no go.
