VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

!LOL!

I won't be either, but I will be "that guy" with the chicom rig!LOL!

Multi function Zombie killing ammo rig...

ICE Split Front Chest Rig, with Bladder Yoke and Battle Belt, and HSGI pouches...

Hobey has the outline for VZ mags now, so hopefully he'll have some dedicated pouches up soon:D

not to change the subject - but -

Not to change the subject or anything but...I just got my 858 and am wondering what kind of gear guys are using with theirs. I was interested in the Eagle Industries AK rig but they're all tied up with contracts and I don't think I can wait six months. It's kinda being turned into my SHTF blaster and when the zombies come I don't wanna be "that guy" with mags stuck in my jeans.

Let's see some of your rigs!:ar15:

but ! how would you like to be that guy - rather clean the drill deck with a tooth brush !

Well, say what you want about drill decks and all....I'm not in the navy....I'm straight! How do you find the HSGI pouches? Can the flaps close completely? I love his gear and run a Weesatch but I've heard that those pouches are more oriented towards USGI 30 rounders.:pirate:

Yeah, the pouches close completely over the 5/30 VZ mags, though the side release buckles are maxed out.
Of course, they are 'optimised' for USGI 30 rounders, but the 'universal' designation ain't for show- they really will hold all the mag types I use. Need to add some styro blocking in the bottom when using 10 round LAR mags; even with ranger plates, they ride abit low in the front half of the pouch.
