OK, My Vz-58 front sight has a fully enclosed globe protecting the front sight, my buddy has three 58's and all his have open 'ears' protecting the sight. When did they make this change? The only reason I can figure is to stop the accidental use of the open 'ears' as the sight post in poor lighting?

When I ordered mine I had just finished a major project (programming) at work that had included some 16 hour days.

A VZ58 was my gift to myself for the headache I had endured. So while I was at work, and still on company time (they owed me big time) I rolled up my sleeves and dove into this thread. That was a while ago.

Why not make a VZ faqs and sticky it? That way if someone needs to find out some info they can find it quick instead of wading through 200+ pages of czech rifle masturbation...
