Just bought my 858, look forward to fun at the range!
Let's get a majority in the next election so that we can have legal "de-pop rivetting" parties all across the country when C-68 is replaced by a new gun law that seeks to control criminals, not law-abiding hobbyists!

Why bother with the sticky? This post is always at the top anyways and I'd hate to see how long it would take to go through 2000+ posts for good info on these rifles.
Now if someone was to cull through all the crap and take the best of this post into a sticky that would be great.

anyway guys anyone notice any accuracy difference between the 58 and 858?
I have a 58 and thinking about the 858 also ..........why .....why not .........
If you have to ask about buying a rifle you should just default to buying it.
Of all the mistakes in life we can make buying the wrong rifle is the cheapeast and easiest to fix! (P.S I dont think an 858 is ever the wrong rifle)

well no compalints about my 58 i was wondering about the 858 i want one eventually but the bubba in me wants to make a RPK or Drag lookallike, out of it for the SVD look I'll have to carve out the stock .....(i could do that) i think with an ak front sight a and a selctor switch i might be able to pull it off

Oh, has anyone tried to make an ak style reciever cover?brass deflector for a VZ?
The two big challanges there are maybe a little mod to the bolt carrier and where to attach the front of the cover once its made

Oh, don't get me wrong, its defiantly NOT comfy! Sure does look evil though, and thats what counts. I'm not sure if I want to keep it yet, as I may get one of the "G36" style stocks Paul has in if the folding adapter becomes available.Deckard said:
