VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

    Votes: 1,507 70.4%
  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Any interest in these?

Your rail is coming Deckard, PM me for details as I am almost there:D

So, after trying to remove the front sight and realizing theres 3-4 layers of paint in the way; I decided to strip it all off and redo it...the only problem is That Czech paint is indestructable! I scuffed it and gobbed on some Super Stripper an hour ago, and nothing happened, made a tin foil canoe and filled it up around the receiver/barrel and will recheck in the morning...It say's right on the bottle that it will remove heat treated enamel!!!

Im trying to avoid the sandblaster.

Anyone have luck with another paint remover? Will Brake Fluid work?

**update---I checked back 21 hours later and the paint stripper had absolutely no effect. Not even on the areas where I scuffed the paint while trying to remove the front sight!"

Any progress on the sight rails? There was the John Marshall rail, and someone else mentioned they (can't recall who) were working on a rail design also.

Does anyone know where an AR stock adapter can be had? I like the FAB Defense ones, but the $275 is a little steep for me.

I think those are more than an adapter, because they fold and include the stock. I'm working on a similar folder, but wont be selling them. I'd like to do a DIY write-up to help people with making their own though...but thats a while off.

Does anyone know where to get a flash suppressor or hider? And are they a pain to install on the rifle?

I've done a search in this thread, but haven't found a definitive answer.

Some make them out of FN flash eliminators. Some are made in unique patterns. But mostly people use muzzle brakes. You can get them from Marstar and vz58.net. They screw on easily when you push in the little pin on the front side of the front sight assembly.
