VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Is the barrel thread on an Ak the same as the 58/858?
I found some flash hiders that would work nicely

Nope. Its the complete oposite thread direction compared to AK.
The Czech wanted nothing to do with the AK.

BTW, I'm shooting thoses rounds that comes into stripper clips into a light green box.

I need more information on 7.62 NATO rounds and VZ-58 please. Do they fit? Anyone has number of pressure vs regular ammo? Bullet velocity? What's the top pressure into a VZ-58 it can handle?

Thanks.

7.62 nato is a .308. they are not the same ammo. the green stripper clip ones are the czech surplus. don't know exactly the pressure from them but they are alot hotter than normal comercial 7.62x39

CZ 858 vs SKS

Ok, I have an SKS (earlier surplus style that are supposed to be better than the later commercial versions), just wondering why is the CZ858 better? Why is the CZ858 easier to clean? I am considering getting a CZ858 but would like to hear how they compare to the SKS.

How are they 858 mags made to 5rders - pinned? I've also read they are perform better than an AK mag? Extra mags available?

Thanks all.
