Just a different muzzle break, and if you look closely there IS a front sight; just blends in very well with the aggregate underneath.

Actually just ignore me, cause I'm an idiot. I quoted the right one, but I must be over tired or something.
Was thinking the gap on the side of the front sight assembly(the whole part that goes over the barrel) was part of a flash hider.

I just read this whole thread....
Well most of it anyway. It took me three relaxing evenings. It was quite interesting to see the difference in the tone and structure of members posts from start to finish.
One of my first posts on this forum was actually pics of a VZ 58 that I installed a PK-AS sight on. I liked that rifle, shouldn't have sold it. Now I've come full circle and having shed my Norinco funk and moved back to a far better rifle (in my opinion) with the VZ 58.
Anyway, it's a shame this thread is languishing of late. I wanted to give you an update on the three top posters...
Here's a Pic of Palinak and Deckard. After a long hiatus they decided to go out hunting together. Deckard looks pissed because he has to carry all the ammo (again) and Palinak never lets him shoot anything, or carry the rifle.

Here's a recent pic of King Doctor Lector. He just figured out how to use his new IPOD to listen to non-stop bootleg Jimmy Hendrix MP3's. He's been in hiding because he knows I really want him to find me a short (er) barreled VZ 58 and I'm being such a pest about it. He's already in my bad books because my DAR 22 project is turning out to cost me a small fortune and will likely be an exercise in pain to prove him wrong that I can make a great shooting 200 yard rig. It's OK though, I'll forgive him if he finds me a short barreled VZ 58. At least pestering him about it incessantly will be fun.
Finally here's an update and picture of Suprathpeg and Neit Arms. They've put aside their competitive differences and are conspiring to take over the parts world with their VZ 58 parts.

Well, once again, I'm all alone in this thread. Deck hardly posts anymore, Palinak is but mist in the air, and Lector is still in hiding.
Actually, rumor has it that Lector has been training with the RCMP to be one the Canadian Parliament Officers. He was very excited when he learned that they were going to be issued old MP5's from their inventory and he signed up.

Notice the ###y helmet, it accentuates his mustache. It should be noted that he is firing for groups here at 300 yards.

This is what happens when the fine NEA products meet Leapers and a cheap Chinese scope. The wooden grips are handmade.
First of all, I am 100% thrilled with the workmanship, quality and functionality of the NEA adaptor and detachable scope mount. These are highly recommended. I thought I'd never pimp my rifle, but now I've come over.
Normally, the adaptor uses the CAR stock, but I decided to use the Leapers side folding mechanism from Questar. In this combo, the mechanism had to be canted slightly to allow for the detachable scope mount, but then the stock itself can be canted too so that it goes straight. It doesn't hinder the folding as you can see. The stock will fold left and stay in place without locking. Pull the stop and it locks in place like the AK-74. When locked, it is very rigid and in fact takes a bit of force to fold again.
I know that NEA will be making a side folding adaptor, which is undoubtedly of high quality. I have nothing but respect for those who brought us these products. These are all 'must buy.'

Looks good Deck! I like the wood, just have to throw some stain on it and you're done. Have you had a chance to shoot that set up yet? Also, what muzzle break is that?

Thanks. I am not sure what color to stain it - thought? I haven't shot it yet. It's a Marstar unit, but I have others, like the cool Krink type.
The adaptor, Dmitri, is the Leapers unit often seen on modern AKs. It is plenty strong, IMHO. They say .22, but I'd okay with them.

To me it depends on what you are going to do with the hand guard. I like darker stains but it would probably look good lighter as well.
