VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

QUESTION:

Has anyone taken their factory front sight off their (cz858)? Im weary to try as it looks like it will wreck the finish because it was quite obviously painted over. Also, how will it affect installing brakes? Anyway if anyone has done it post a pic or two, much thanks.

Just picked up a CSA vz 58 Sporter today:

Thing is I didn't think you could get .223 CSA vz 58's in the original furniture?. Are these new imports?.

I paid $689.00 for it, seems low for a CSA gun, not complaining of course but just curious what the deal is.

No argument there. The point is can be affordable. Milarm sold them slick at $375. Marstar had them at under $600. Others groomed us at $700, and the new crop is $1000. I guess that is the downside of supply and DEMAND, and I suppose this thread didn't help. Mea culpa.

gouging

Who is importing these into canada the petrol chemical industry? They are WAY over priced. Europe's economy is crashing, US is swimming in debt and the cdn economy is chugging along, our dollar has been close to par with the states or better since these have shown up on our shore. We are getting screwed by the canadian distrubutor. They should be going down in price, not up. Supply and demand BS, it greed plain and simple. Does anyone know who the sole source distrubutor is for canada? I wish my wages climbed as fast and a high as these soared. I should be use to being screwed over, I'm Canadian eh.:(

That's the way I see it anyway.

I have one of the original cz858s that came in to Canada. I paid 650 for it. I just picked up a csa 11.8" and yes it was 900$ but the fit and finish is light years ahead of my 858.
