VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

    Votes: 1,507 70.4%
  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Calm down Dr. Lector. You gonna bite my nose off. :)

Cut down version doesn't look all that good, (at least to me) and looks too stuby. Besides, it would be prohib, right? But then, it might look cool with Infratek Tactical forend, and those nice stocks and grips.

The CZ 858 Tactical is the same length as the CZH 2003 (aka because of Marstar’s marketing, the CZH 2003 is known to all here as VZ58)

The CZ 858 Tactical is not being imported.

The CZ 858 Tactical-2 is only available in Canada. It’s not even available in the Czech Republic where it’s manufactured. (Different laws longer barrels are not necessary)

SA VZ 58 (Samopal Vzor 58) is the original name for the military select fire version and NOT any semi-auto version.

All parts come from the same factory, same place, CZ-UB Ceska Zbrojovka – Uhersky Brod. (Czech Arms – Uhersky Brod “name of town”)

I've just looked at some pics of this VZ2000 made by Ohio based company. Looked exactly same as VZ, but the receiver's finish might've looked a little better... I don't know. (Wasn't that great a pic quality) Has anyone seen one, or handled U.S. VZ2000? Is it a better quality, you think?

They are WAAAAY more expensive. Also, they have 'new receivers' made in the USA, but the parts are all NOS or used surplus. Kinda like our VZ-58s parts.

But yeah, cost prohibitive and not even better than our cheapy version.

I'm looking for ideas here.

I find the smooth metal butt plate too slippery.
When I aim, it happens that it slips down my shoulder.
I'd like to put more grip there.

I thought about "grip tape" that everybody is talking about. Where do you buy that?

Any other ideas?
