Been working on this all day, it was a lot more complex than I thought.
Bluing the rail tomorrow, and will also make some alterations to the weaver rail.

Very Impressive! I think that is the first scoped VZ I've seen in the hands of a Canadian that has the optics mounted behind the ejection port. Let us know how truely accurate the VZ is with optics!

It's an SVD/PSL mount.

The mount is not a problem, the tricky bit is fitting the rail. The reciever can not be tapped as it is paper thin, so it is necessary to tap the rail and screw it on from the inside. I don't think two screws are enough to do a proper job, and a screw can not be used in the centre of the rail as the internals are in the way, so it's a four hole job. I found it necessary to weld a 1/4" piece of steel to the back of the rail, in order to get the mount to clear the step in the reciever. If you don't fix the mount high up the reciever pins will be covered, ( I had to drill one access hole ) but if you drill too high up there is a risk of drilling through the rails inside the reciever, there is also a possiblility that the screws heads will interfere with the rear of the striker which has a lug that engages under the rail.

If you do decide to do this yourself don't blame me if you screw up. I got away with it, but I would advise anyone thinking about having a go themselves to get a gunsmith to do it, if he messes it up he will have to replace the rifle.

Nice nice job, much better than my POSP on SKS. I can see there is a 1/4" block under the side rail. So is that scope offset from the center line of sight? Thanks!

I got the sight mount from Nightvision Optics. Vladislav is the man to ask for, he is very helpfull. There is also a high mount, but I went with the low one, it would not fit if it were any lower so I was lucky with that. The high mount could be altered to give the height you want if you don't want it low on the reciever.

It's the third one down from the top, but if you want a low mount ask for the low version.

Don't waste your money on a aimpoint clone, mine is rubbish. Get what you pay for I suppose, should have known better.
