The OP bought a used rifle -- it's a bit difficult to blame CSA for his rifle when the rifle's history is pretty much an unknown. It could have been a lemon from the factory or the rifle's problems could be due to poor maintenance. No one, outside of the original owner I suppose, knows.
CSA is still willing to service these rifles under warranty (extended the coverage I believe), due to the amount of problems they have had. OP should contact North Sylva and I'm certain he'll see that there will be no charge for fixing it.
