I found an easier way after trying the 9mm brass method unsucessfully...

1) Find a spring loaded ball point pen.
2) Dissassemble and keep the spring
3) Trim the spring down to a few mm on the end (keep the small compacted end)
4) Insert on trigger mechanism bar (You may have to file it down after cutting to fit flush).

I tried it and i've been running good ever since.

Ok, I've been trying the "shake" method of getting the firing pin to drop out of the pin carrier. It seems the angle of the hole is such that when the pin drops, it hits the wall of the inside channel and will not fall out. I've tried to rotate it to get it at an angle that it will come out completely. No joy! Is the firing pin not meant to come out completely?

Help....please.

Well, I struggled with it for over an hour, and could not get it to fall free. Soaked it in clp, scrubbed the bolt face and the extractor, and cleaned the rest of the sides. Reassembled. There really wasn't any build up, but I did want to completely disassemble the entire rifle. Got almost all of it apart and cleaned and relubed and assembled.

Disappointed...? Yup, but I guess someone has an answer as to why it doesn't come out.

(there's nothing like a poorly written Czech instruction manual)

Video on field stripping was awesome! Especially when compared to the users manual that the rifle came with. Just gave it a quick field strip for the first time, no problem. Still needs a good cleaning before heading to the range for the first time.

Just wondering if the 7.62 bolt carrier can be swapped out on the VZ 58 to a 5.56 bolt to use up NATO rounds?
Looking to purchase a VZ here soon but I'm trying to find out on the web if the bolts are interchangeable between the calibers.
It would be ideal in a scavenging-type situation when you're out of 7.62 :p

Thanks,

Lids

New to the platform and as usual fellow CGNers are on the ball. Glad I went over the carbine. The bolt and pin were a mess and the vids showed me how to break it all down, clean it and make it work. Easy peasy - thanks Exocet and others.

Newbie question.. does G96 actually stop the corrosive issue with crate 7.62? After shooting can I just spray everything down to neutralize and do a cleaning hours later or the next day?
