VZ58: Optics, sights & mounts. update sept

Just ordered a Zhukov stock, stock adapter, and AK grip and was wondering if you all could shed a little input. I have a folding stock VZ and was wondering if I'd for sure be able to keep the folding function.

Since the stock angle will be changed to be a more optic-friendly angle, I wanted to run an optic on my front picatinny rail (handguard area) so I don't need a mount over my dust cover. Was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for an optic (circle-dot reticle preferred) that would allow a co-wtiness with the irons, I have a 11.8" barrel for context.

Anyone have a recommendation or pics of a small RDS optic on the front railed handguard? I think I wanna stick with that set up for less clutter. I would preferably like to have co-witness ability

Attention all enthusiast !!!! This thread is crazy big, I have a problem not a question and need help. I just a acquired a new addition. It has been drilled and tapped ! Looks well done, how ever the bolt pattern is weird, I can’t find a side mount with this spec!!! Has any one seen this ? Or can some one suggest another link or even a company ?

From the bottom of the receiver the left hole is 1/2” up and the right hole is 5/8” up with a Centre to center space of 3 3/4”
I wish I could up kid a pic, have zero clue with this CGN format.

If you bought a CSA VZ58, you will need the side rail that is also made by CSA.
This one: https://www.firearmsoutletcanada.com/csa-vz58-receiver-side-rail.html.

From there you have a couple of options.

You can get a separate mount from CSA that attaches to the side rail. Either the high one or the low one. From experience these work well, hold zero on and off the rifle, top part is a picatinny rail.

This is the low one: https://www.firearmsoutletcanada.com/csa-vz58-red-dot-bridge-mount-low-mount.html.

Or you can get a mount called an RS Regulate. Does the same thing, but comes in two pieces. Made in the US. More expensive, but (can possibly) get your optic lower to the barrel. The second piece can be a piece specific to the optic you run. E.g. An acog base for acog type scopes. Or it too can just come with a picatinny rail. (I don’t have experience with the RS regulate system).

Third you can get a Posp style scope if you want a long range optic. Take a look at Murray 3-D's videos for an idea.

RIP this thread. -_-

Not really, here is a new picture of mine !
