VZ58 Reclassification?

I am going by actual available information not rumour, innuendo and hyperbole. The fact is that there is no indication of any kind of any move to reclassify the CZ-858. The best "evidence" that anyone can produce is a three year old document in which the RCMP say an "argument can be made" to reclassify it. The FRT is in place. There is no notation that it is under review. Sure there are a couple of shipments held up by customs for UNKNOWN reasons but that again is not evidence of looming reclassification. People need to take a breath and stop going "chicken little" at the slightest provocation and wait for the facts to be known. If the FRT gets pulled or flagged as under review, then its time to worry.

First of all, I've never seen any written document regarding reclassification that states something along the lines of "an operator with a semi-auto can be more dangerous that one with a full auto." Typically, the RCMP do their testing then slap on Easy to Convert, or Converted Auto status on them and call it a day. Second. Where are people saying the rumour that you can make an older 858 full auto specifically? There's wild speculation on this topic yet I don't recall anyone specifically stating that "older" model 858s can be converted, if I missed something fair enough, but I understand the actual topic full and well, my question to you was what exactly does your Joe-tacticool OPERATOR AS F#$% knowledge contribution have to do with the topic at hand? As far as I can see, nothing.

There are greater implications to this thread than what you can ninja around with better :ninja:. I don't usually take the internet too seriously, but in the case of something that can affect thousands of us and our rights by way of eventual confiscation, I just didn't see the point of this U CAN OPERATE A SEMI AUTO GAT BETTAR DAN A FUL AUTO GAT AND CONTROLL THA PEW-PEW FIGHT AND WASTE LESS AMUUNOTIONS! comment.

Anyway for the actual topic at hand, I think Teapot is right and until they are actually investigating the rifle, we could be fighting the onerous firearms act and pushing for a revision or re-write. From researching it, we're looking at something that amounts to a memo stating there could be an argument to prohibit the 858. The other confirmed fact is Wolverine's shipments (2) are still seized. As far as I can find (by his posts, not the speculation ninjas) there has been no clear reason as to why the shipments were seized and their attempts at opening a dialogue have been met with silence. Obviously this is call for concern, but my understanding is the RCMP usually notify, and request information from the importer during their investigation into reclassification. This is a sign they might be opening an investigation on the 858 yes, but not a "we're looking at it right now" by any means.

There are distinct problems we can be fighting at hand based on evidence, not speculation, let's stick to those but remain ready to spring on the 58's if needed. In the 858's case for now we could bring to light the fact that one of our friends and business members has two shipments of goods approved as restricted and non restricted firearms allowed for lawful sale held in storage with no explanation as to why and the bill for storage keeps getting higher and higher.

Yea, coffee definitely in order. Chicken little whatever, all I know is I was about to pull the trigger on one and had made some (what I thought were) reasonable offers on several rifles here on the EE, then I see these threads...several of them...and I see a marked increase in used 858's for sale all over...makes a guy think. Well, makes this guy think anyhow, and I'll go safe rather than sorry and not purchase one. I can think of many better ways to flush $800 down the toilet than giving it to the government to smelt.

Just my nickels worth guys,
