VZ58 - Should I get one?

I love my czh2003. I bought for 650 few years back. Would I pay 900-1400 for what they go for on EE. No. Amazing $600-$800 but prices now are too high. Plus the older batches with the gremlin issues,

It's your money. Your late to the party so you have to pay the high prices. You can't go wrong with Vz58, cz858 czh2003.

Go buy one on EE. Worse case.....you can resell it and get your money back.
 
Other then the caliber, my SKS's are not in the same league. My Type 81 scratches my AKM itch in a way my CZ858 cannot. However neither come close to my light weight, striker fired Czech wonder! Get it, its a nice little rifle!!! Wether or not it's a $1,000.00 plus rifle is not the question. The question is: "is it worth that much to you?" For me I can say yes.

Is it possible to obtain a restricted version of the CZ858?
I think it looks awkward with the 18.5” barrel. The Type 81 looks better. How do the 2 compare?

Yes, the restricted version with the proper barrel length is called the CZ 858 4V. They are shorter, lighter and handier than the extra-long NR versions, but can only be used on a range. As a result of their restricted status, the properly-configured 858 4Vs tend to be less expensive than the longer NR versions. I just paid $850 delivered for an 858 4V in excellent condition with the usual array of accessories.

They are available quite regularly on the EE. In fact, there is one on there right now for $950 asking price.- might go for less if the seller is motivated...
 
I also have one , just took on trade, 2003 sport model if I remember right 16" ? a bunch of after market stuff on it , Sunday , I can't get at it right now, original wood and folder, etc, I may have pictures still in the camera, will check
 
if u interested in AK-style look, 7.62x39 caliber and AK-like ergonomics... of course you have to get VZ58
it is socialistic design
very unique design
reliable design

of course try to get standard-classic wood/ barf version-that will increase the value of the rifle in the long run compared to plastic, imho

I am personally getting plastic and then redress it into wood with two wood stocks-original and AK74 adapted buttstock
ordered and waiting


also if you are interested in socialistic designs, get SKS-original and D/KD version, get type 81
