VZ58 with AK buttstock

Anybody tried to custom fit AK buttstock to VZ58?
I know it ain't a straight forward stock adaptation... but still
I am more used to AK stock and beavertail looks/ feels strange

Take a look at the bottom baby:

Anybody knows where to buy VZ58 front plate?

I doubt the AK stock on the bottom VZ works. My guess would be the cheek weld is so high, u cant even use the irons. The receivers on the VZ's are much lower than that of the AK's, which means the buttstocks need to be swept down lower than ur standard AK stock in order to get a comfortable cheek weld with the irons. SO basically, even if u do get a hold of an AK buttstock, ur still most likely going to have to modify its mounting angle in order to make it comfortable. PLUS modify it in a way that it can be mounted. When considering all of this, I just opted to make a custom AK styled stock instead. While I was at it, I made it out of solid Maple, just to ensure it lasts a long time :)

I mounted my stock by drilling a hole through the entire stock, then cutting off the 12x1mm threads on the buttstock bolt, and welding it to the end of a VERY long 1/2 bolt.

There was a fella on here a couple years back that modified the buttstock portion of an SKS stock to fit his VZ. And it looked alright. Of course theres also CGN'ers like LobsterPot, Bfiles and Dimitry to name a few that have also made custom AK look alike stocks for their VZ's.

I will do a build video later this spring/summer discussing and displaying the general process I took to make it. Im surprised that ur interested in this given that u already own a fixed Type 81.... Does it not satisfy ur AK craving haha ?

I think I will be making an intermediate angle stock to the rear ... intermediate between an vs vz
 
I had considered trying to custom-fit one, but ended up not bothering in part due to the different angles between the AK and Vz stocks. Then, after deciding it wasn't worth the trouble, I unexpectedly ended up with this. The angle is a bit lower, which allows the use of the iron sights.... though that being said, the front post needed to be raised, and the rears set up a couple of notches.







 
So guys, just bumping this up as I am almost done with adapting AK74 wood stock to my VZ58.
No problems with sighting as some people pointed
Looks absolutely gorgeous and super nice
I will be posting photos soon: as soon as I tint/ stain match the stock to the rest of the original CZ858 wood furniture

Stay tuned-it is coming!
I am also adapting AK74 wood furniture (complete set) on my SKS-KD which already eats AK47 mags
a bit longer way to go as the foregrip is a b!tch to adapt

and yes both original AK74 wood furniture sets came under 100USD each straight from Mother Russia

Awesome job! Nobody said it wasn't possible.... We just said rather than modifying, we opted to create instead :p

Wasn't aware the AK 74 buttstocks had holes through them? I thought all AK stocks mounted by sliding into a metal bracket, which then was screwed to the wood ??
