Wad stuck in the barrel

I never knew I needed a specialized tool to clear the barrel on any firearm, except for snow the problem always being that a squib has sent something only halfway out. Dowels have done it for me, I probe each way to see which direction is the shortest and push or tap the obstruction out that way, only minimum force ever needed. I can see the argument that a metal rod might damage the barrel, but a dowel? No way.

A dowel should work for removing a wad. However, there is a risk to using wooden dowels to remove barrel obstructions. The grain runs diagonally through a lot of dowels. A dowel can break and wedge in the barrel. Now you have a REAL problem. Better to play it safe and use a metal, or even fiberglass, rod. A little strategicallty placed electrical tape will protect the bore.

FFS, why was this 'revived' ? There is no valid question of how to remove a stuck wad - just call philly's GF, johnny's won't notice a problem 😉

GOOD LORD, talk about getting your panties in a knot!
It's really very simple. if you don't want to follow or read a thread, don't open it. Don't be trying to dictate to others what they can/cannot do.
