I have been an avid fan of the Remington 870 and have one I'll never part with. Recently though I've been wanting a semiautomatic shotgun and after considering my budget decided on the Mossberg 930. Reviews were mixed but leaned more towards positive than negative so I decided it would be a good introduction semi-auto. I held it in my hands and I just couldn't do it. It didn't feel right. It didn't feel like the quality was there. Not compared to my Remington or even the older Mossberg pumps I've handled. So I made the nice man show me every semiautomatic shotgun in the store. The second I held the Benelli M4 it was all over.

I handled some pretty goddamn nice shotguns that day but nothing came close to feeling as good as the M4. It was $2300 and change out the door but I feel like I purchased something they'll bury me with. I just didn't get that with the 930. Even my beloved 870 feels like a tin can in my hands now. The M4 isnt perfect and needs a thing or two changed but its damn close. Shoots like a dream.

This thread has no point.

I'm just in love and wanted to talk about it :)

Sorry.

They are great guns I'm sure.

I just didn't want to buy something I might want to replace in a year.

If it makes you feel any better I had to immediately sell two guns to cover it.

Did you get to hold a Weatherby SA-08? I have heard good things about them

I'm not sure to be honest. I looked a aloooooot of shotguns that day.

The truth of the matter is that I'm a gun snob. I have a good buddy who owns and loves norinco guns. I've shot them, they're great. Function just fine. I just can't make myself spend money on something that I don't feel has the fit and finish that I want. I would rather spend more and have something to pass on to someone else than just have a safe full of functional guns that I don't really love. I guess I'm a quality over quantity kind of guy.

I've heard that Mossberg made some refinements in recent 930 shotguns. Christ I was going to buy one so I was sold on them. When you think about it I could have bought one and had it completely worked over and smoothed out by an excellent gunsmith for half of what I spent. I could have had a completely dialed awesome 930 for half. That's a lot of ammo I could have bought.

Maybe I did make a hasty decision.

Who knows :(

I did same thing with my pump..After not liking what I went in for, and handling all the pumps in store I walked out with Bennelli Super Nova...And love it

Yeah I love mine...I just feel bad for pooping the Mossberg guy's parade.

If you get a good, Mossberg, Remington, Ruger, Norinco, etc. they're all fine guns.

Well I say good choice
I have them all. And its really unfair to put the M4 up against most ofthers
Mossy 930 is a good gun but the M4 is 4 times the price. And 3x the quality
I have over 50 combat/ defence shotguns. The m4 is the tops!

you made a good choice. cant go wrong with a benelli. mossbergs are like the fat cousin of the supermodel, even though they're fun to play around with you know you'd rather have the supermodel....

"Over 50 combat shotguns"

Are you serious?

Holy f****.

Baby...you crazy :)

That's BBB, he's not a regular dude. S&J Hardware
Also on a side note to BBB I'd love it if you could hook me up with a +2 extension for my 930.

To the OP congrats on your new M4, who knows maybe some day I'll have one as well.
The 930 was just too good of a deal to pass up. I haven't had any problems with it.

I've been on the fence about buying one several times but stepped back as I'm not a big fan of ghost ring sights.

As far as quality goes they're top notch by tactical shotgun standards, putting one next to any recently made factory tactical shotgun is like putting a Wilson Combat or some other semi custom 1911 next to a Norinco.

I'm not going to lie...I slept in the spare bedroom with the Benelli beside me the first night.

I had to consummate the union.

Don't you judge me :(
