Wallmart NO longer carrying ammo

My wife is managment for Wally Mart, if the store is not selling enought of a product, they get rid of it.
Here in Vernon they sell lots of ammo & scopes so they keep it , as well as licences. Some gun shops here will not sell licences as the gov't no longer pays they for this service. Only problem is that I keep getting calls from the store regaurding the regs because the salesperson doesn't know all the regs.

Also by law (as I beleive) the person behind the counter must possess a valid Fire Arms licence (PAL) to handle & sell the ammo.

My local canadian tire stopped selling ammo recently and when I asked about it they told me Canadian tires do not sell ammunition. No response when I told them the one 10 mins further up sells lots of it.

If anyone in Surrey here shops at Walmart for ammo, go to the Surrey West one(125th and nordel) The sporting goods clerk is hard to find but he is a really nice guy who is well informed and is also a gun owner.

Different story here in Brandon, our Wal-mart was blowing out all there Federal ammo, bought 10 boxes of .270 130 grain for $12.00 a box.
Next visit, their the cabinets were all restocked with Winchester ammo, they said it was a business decision to switch brands, so at least they are still carrying ammo.:canadaFlag:

Wow! Your local Wal-Mart must've had a crap load of ammo in their store room! Most of the Wal-Mart's I'm familiar with sold out all their Federal ammo about a year and a half ago! Switched to all Winchester. Got a better deal from them. Sucks cause I hate Winchester rimfire ammo and loved the Federal 550 round Valu-Paks...sigh...

Bought some shotgun ammo here in N. Van. the lady looked at my PAL and said it's almost expired (May, reapplication in already by registered mail :) ) and make sure I get a new one. then said, stupid laws are useless! :dancingbanana:

Very pleased with the service that day!

This morning i went to pickering and Ajax ontario wallmarts and both the ammo cabinets were empty I asked why and was told that wallmart want to get away from ammo and GUN stuff

couldn't care less! walmart is nothin but a junk store anyway,.... chineese, korean & pakistani crap.
won't miss it one iota!

I've been picking up Federal and Remington ammo for cheap at Wal Mart's all over Ontario, in my extensive travels I try to make a note to stop at the local Wal Mart in search of some cheap .303, hey, for $14 a box, you can't go wrong. If only I owned something in .30-06.... it's just as cheap and I need an excuse to buy it.

I can't wait to blow it all off come spring time. :D

$14 a box , cheapest ive seen in wally martin Red Deer is 20 bucks a box , i got a bubba`d 303 i just put an indestructable 1" angle iron scope mount on i wanna play with , for 14 bucks it would be played with more .

Same thing happened here with the federal stuff at our local "wally's world". Just winchester run of the mill stuff now.I wont' go unless I have to, You would be lucky to find someone at the counter even if you wanted something out of it.....

wallmart

GREAT TO HEAR!!!! Now if the soulless sellouts would just stop selling everything else the world would be a better place....

Thats right folks

ban your local wallmart

M.M. bought it at K-Mart. Bought 100 rounds of Winchester 12ga at Walmart last week for $20, good special I figure.

No thats the norm. They tend to get the federal 100 round boxes for 20 as well. I like the federal better for my 870.

I only use that stuff for skeet though.

The Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart stores here in Halifax both carry tons of ammo, the cabinets are always full.

I use to work at Canadian Tire as a Hardware Manager while going to school and I was one of two people there with a PAL who could sell firearms. We had about 10 in the showcase and another 120 in the sports lock-up out back. The other guy with a PAL was the Sports Manager but he left a year before I did. I was then left as the only person who could handle and sell firearms there but we only did one a week until Deer season came along, then we did 5 to 7 a week. Since I left, the owner of the store sold the remainder of the firearms to a local dealer who then liquidated them at pretty good prices but this was a few years back. None of the Canadian Tire's around here carry firearms now, just airsoft, air rifles and cheap paintball stuff.

I usually stop into Canadian Tire on Saturday's for odds and ends and always stop by the ammo showcase. Last weekend they had something new, Winchester 2 3/4" 1oz. slugs in 15 pack boxes for $11.99 so I picked up the two boxes that they had along with some Federal .308 and Federal Bulk Pack .22LR. I also stopped by Wal-Mart and picked-up all their Winchester .223 55gr Hollow Point Bulk Packs, hehehe... Gotta stock up on the .223 :)

Cheers,

Exercitus

I do know Canadian tire sells ammo cheaper than walmart now. That was different. Value packs of shotshells can be had for $21-$22. At walmart they were up from 19.99 to $23?

Is anything made in N. America anymore ? I checked out the high end camouflage ($400) and low end camouflage ($120) suits everyone is buying for turkey season, ALL were made in vietnam/china etc. I checked out a bunch of electronics last week, ALL were made in china/japan. I checked out furniture a couple of months back. ALL was made in china etc.

For a long time now investors realized they can pay 2 cents a hour to someone overseas to make stuff, make 5x as much profit, and retire at 35 years old.

Bah. I'll just buy a flat for $48 from our local range supplier.... That is under $5 a box. Cheaper than Wally-mart and Canuck-Tire...

I liked to buy the odd 12 guage ammo there for target shooting and bulk packs of .22

last time i tried to get .22 ammo at gagnons they had 2 50 rnd boxes at $4.00 somthing EACH and nothing else in .22

I do reload 99% of my cals i shoot i cant reload .22

Im not going to drive 45 min each way to williams for a bulk box or 2 of .22's

i do shop there but wait untill i need a buch of stuff to drive there wallmart was nice 2 mins away

Gagnons never seems to have bulk .22 in stock. I went there and they offered me the small boxes at $3-$4 each. When I asked for something bigger thay handed me a box of 500 and told me the price was the price of the small boxes inside X 10...no deal there buying in bulk.

I do buy a lot of stuff from Gagnons but I find them expensive on a lot of stuff. I don't find Williams any better for prices.

CT and Walmart have them beat on prices for a lot of things.

You should see the Canadian Tire on the south hill here in Red Deer. I hear tha guy that runs this one is a gun nut. CZ, Winchester, Ruger, Mossberg, Remington, Savage, Browning, Pretty much every type of pistol & rifle ammo you can think of. Tasco & Bushnell scopes(nice ones not just the economy models) The people behind the counter are usually knowleagable, And don't give you attitudes. Never seen another CT like it.
agreed :D

Walmart here has lots of ammo, just no guns.
Canadian tires it depends on the store.

Lately both crappy tire and walmart have been 5-6 bucks a box MORE then the local gun shops though.
