Walmart ammo buying experience

I keep looking for a deal like that, but it nevers happens in the WalMart I go to, they rarely ever have any 22 ammo in stock.

Did you ask for a discount? It never hurts to ask... It strikes me as a bit odd that you would get such a response though. I live in Greater Vancouver, and have bought ammo at quite a few of the Walmarts around here and never once did I feel any negative vibes from the staff... Hell, that would be one more reason for me to go ##### at the manager and demand a discount because their staff is a bunch of judgmental #######s...

well it was the manager... he didn't say anything just looked like I was a terrorist... I took upon me to educate him. Seems like they don't sell much ammo and are weirded out by people that does

They treat their employees no different than any other big box store...

I had a similar experience. Was picking up shotshells, took over 30 minutes to finally get someone over there after asking the girl at electronics to page someone like 5 times. The final time i asked her to page management. Manager told me the person working in the department was outside collecting carts in the parking lot. I #####ed about how long it took, and she gave me $10 off.

I had a similar experience buying a wardrobe there. It was too heavy to lift myself, so i asked for help. After 30 minutes I went straight to customer service and demanded the manager, who promptly gave me the $128 item for $99 after i #####ed about my service.

Hat's off to folks who are polite but speak up:rockOn:

My local wm had fed bulk recently, I bought a couple boxes of 525's. I know going in that the service isn't great, so my patience doesn't get tested. They have remmy yellow jacket at 6.00 a box, that's their new price. It was the first time they had fed bulk in a very long time. They don't have the market on poor service, you can get that almost anywhere. Their prices have gone up, but not like other places. A local gun/outdoor store has remmy subs at 90 dollars a brick, I bought it 2 years ago at 30. There is an increase and then there is gouging, the increase I can live with, the other I can't.

Very interesting to see how different Walmart is to say Canadian Tire. In Nanaimo, a totally different approach.............

CT has a large stock of ammo, from handgun to Chinese surplus. A choice of centre fire cartridges, from economic hunting to top end target in most popular calibres.

Service, with a smile. The guy that runs the department is into guns and hunting! They even have reloading components!

Walmart is somewhere I do not even bother going into the hunting section, waste of time.

I could also say what else do you expect in Victoria, but that would just be smug..........Cabela's / Wholesale Sports / Gone Fishing and Canadian Tire all in Nanaimo.

Candocad.

well they don't (CT) have a lot of ammo where I live... no .22s ... like ever. no bulk ammo either let alone chinese surplus.

I guess it depends where you are from...

Walmart sucks, it's owned by one of the richest families in America, they sell Chinese junk, and treat the employee's like slaves.
I don't care how cheap the prices are, I won't buy #### all there.

you should read his book, might give you a different perspective.

If you think WM cares, they don't. Ammo, clothing, food, all just product and profit to them. I found a few deals on a couple bricks at one store a couple months ago, Dynapoint, Federal targetMatch, about half what the Canadian Tire across the road had on shelf priced. Now all they have left is Winchester Wildcat 22 at $3.67/50 , while CT has exact same ammo at $5.49 for 50.

The crazy part is that when I was leaving the store they had about 8-10 employees breaking down cardboard and loading chocolate onto a shelf , all in a 200 square foot area, yet no one working in sporting goods. Makes sense

Obviously you have to much time on your hands.
Seriously,, educate the manager of the store?
Way to much time and obviously some sort of inferiority complex.
Don't like shopping at a store any store for that matter don't go back, but obviously that wouldn't allow one to come to CGN and beat their chests and tell the members how the educated a WM staffer today.
People who work there work there because they have bills to pay, not because they like being educated by smart mouthed consumers.
Ahhhh, time for the shoot into space thread to rear it's silly lil head.
Tight Groups,

Local walmart had 20% off ammo before xmas... Bought a bunch of AE AR223 for 9.99 -20%... Should have seen the clerk's face when I took 10 boxes lol

I had to chase an employee for 10min, waited for her to recover the keys from a mystery island inhabited by dragons (I guess) because it took forever (10mins lol) but got cheap 223 ammo :p

But, Thank You for your explanation on how to deal with the hired help at Wally Mart.
Insulting the staff is certainly going to make your day better.
Thank You Again.
