Has anyone had experience with the Bushnell scopes being sold at Walmart ?

They appear to be similar to a 4-12X40 AO that I bought many many years ago which was an excellent scope.(not bought from Walmart).

I've looked at their scopes, and came to the conclusion that I can get a better deal on a superior scope on the EE. Their top of the line scope was $179, when you can buy a Bushnell Elite 3200 from the EE for $200 shipped most days.

the other point is WHERE the scope is made- if it's china, it's pot luck- if it;s japan, you can be assured it's a QUALITY scope or at least has quality glass

As with the scopes that come on package guns, I think if they don't put a model name on the ones that Wal-Mart gets it's because it would allow consumers to make direct price comparisons with their standard models at other retailers and upset the market. Wal-Mart will buy such a large volume that Bushnell will be willing to have batches built just for them that may vary in specs from the normal models. Apart from the magnification and lens size spec, you probably aren't going to be able to compare important information like lens coatings.

I think t-star is right about inferring quality from which country they had it made in. Taiwan, Korea, Phillipines probably indicate higher specs than China, and Japan would be better than them all. The Chinese could make a scope as good as the Japanese if you wanted them to, and you were willing to pay for it, but that's not what people usually ask of China. They go to China to have it built for lowest cost.

I bought a Bushnell Legend 5-15 at Walmart this summer. They have quite a few for a discontinued item. Always felt Legends were a good bang for the buck scope. I think I was $271.00 out the door for it is memory serves.

I have a banner 3-9 on my 30-06 for the past 6 years and is still shooting striaght, I bought it at walmart and have beat it good going into moose camp and every year I go to sight it in, its dead on. Cant complain for a 100 scope. I also just bought a banner 4-12 there today. Its going on my 204 ruger in a couple hours, and will sight it in tomorow.

Thanks folks. I believe I will give it a try. I am less than content with my two Leupolds lately and with this warranty confusion am not going that route again.

I've owned Elite 3200's, Legends, and Banners and I would no longer wipe my ass with them.

The eye releif alone is enough to put the fear of god into you when you get railed by the eye piece in the face.

I had an FXIII 6X42 (mucho relief) on my .338F, shot great SUB-MOA all day all night. Sold the FX in a moment of poverty and thought "ah hell I still got a 3200 in the corner I havent used...its a decent scope."

Went to the range and I couldnt get tighter than 3-4"...you know why? because I got friggin hammered in the face 3 times out of 20 when I shot it...yah...little .338F driving that damn bell into my head..because Bushnells realistically have 3-3.25" of eye relief.

Leupold or Redfield for me...thanks.

archie how about putting that same scope on a 308/30-06 that you can shoot with the 3 inch eye relief.and give them a fair shake.because the elite 3200/4200 are supposed to be a pretty good scopes.

have been shooting bushnell scopes all my hunting life which is pushing 30 years.have yet to get hit in the face while shooting my 30-06 or any of the other rifles i have.have even rattled a few out of a 375 H&H that had a bushnell banner scope on it,still did not get the scope in the face.

Cripes guys, all I was looking for was some opinions based on experience, not looking to be crapped on for putting Leupold down. Those responses make it very difficult to consult this site. Nuff said, I'm gone.
