We sent four blanks to Cooper. I'm a real sucker for nice walnut but i'm not an expert on picking blanks-not even close. We started with four from a supplier in New Zealand who has nice supplies of blanks from very old and dense trees. The top two are still being built and I can't wait to see them as they are 'exhibition'. The botton two are built so I put up pics of the finished rifles. I like claro and we have some great Coopers in stock made from it. However, in person, the density of these stocks is immediately obvious. The wood finished to a shine as it is without pores(at leat visible ones) Anyway, for all you wood fans ; enjoy and i'll update when the other two are returned as rifles:

Looks great! I really like the bottom one...What was the turn-around on them?

Yes, that bottom one really fits my tastes. Its not really fancy but it is 'elegant' and the real quality isn't evident in the pics. Its amazing how this wood is so much denser than the usual claro.
These were about six months but they can be longer. Really looking forward to the other two.

Unreal! Absolutley gorgeous, everytime I think I have something really nice...... you crush it! Amazing wood and craftsmanship for the price IMHO.

I really like it the 6.5 (and the 280). However, I know some of what you have and they are very nice too, especially that 22 which has Turkish. Its a different 'look' but has the great density to the wood too. We just sold a custom classic 25/06 AI with amazing wood-however, this 6.5 is just special without being really 'fancy'.

Hey Clay, I have a half dozen exhibition blanks sitting here and can handle 6 months... what are the odds I could have you work on Cooper to do an M57 Classic .22LR up on one of my blanks?

Its not a problem. We can send in a customer's blank for an order as easily as sending our wood. We've got a few customers that have done just that. :)

What is the cost for this service? Do you get a credit for the factory one or do you end up with two stocks?

Good question-used to be , if you provided the blank, they gave a small credit. Then, for a long time, they didn't. Now, its a $100 charge to provide the blank. Seems like its not fair, and perhaps its not but , after seeing the 'factory' work I can see why. They have to tag and track all the way through.

Page 1, I was ready to ship the wood! This, I'll have to think about, as the better of my blanks are $1000 on their own... At the very least, you'd figure they wouldn't charge given they save their wood. Likely better off having the factory stock duplicated I figure if I wanted to go ahead with such a plan.

Some nice looking blanks. :)
I know, the $100 charge seems like it should be a credit. Makes it tough for us to make and $$$ on this by the time we buy the wood and shipping and pay the fee.
